Job Description

GCyber is actively seeking a skilled Cable Technician II to join our team, providing critical support in the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications and network cabling infrastructure of our high-visibility DoD client. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliable operation of the telecommunications systems within a secure DoD environment.

As a Cable Technician II, you will:

Install, maintain, and repair voice and data communications systems, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with industry standards.

Analyze, administer, and maintain telecommunications and network cabling infrastructure, including both fiber optic and CAT6 cabling.

Utilize advanced network cabling test equipment such as network testers, copper cable testers, fiber OTDRs, and fiber power meters to diagnose and resolve issues efficiently.

Adhere to BICSI rules, regulations, and standards in all installation and maintenance activities, promoting best practices and quality workmanship.

Dress, terminate, and test cables and components with precision, ensuring all connections are secure and functional.

Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshoot cabling infrastructure associated with trouble calls, employing problem analysis, and solving skills to address issues promptly.

Manage cable inventory, identify, and remove abandoned cables, and maintain a tidy and safe work environment by keeping cables neatly tied and bundled.

Communicate effectively with personnel of various expertise levels, providing high-quality customer support in a high-visibility environment.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

Active Secret Clearance required.

Bachelor’s Degree in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, and work experience.

5+ years of related telecommunications experience, with a focus on fiber optic and CAT6 cable installation within a DoD environment.

Familiarity with BICSI standards, demonstrating a commitment to quality and adherence to best practices in telecommunications infrastructure.

Proficiency in using a variety of network cabling test equipment, showcasing the ability to diagnose and resolve complex cabling issues.

Strong customer support skills, attention to detail, and the ability to analyze problems and develop effective solutions.

Excellent oral and written communication skills, capable of interacting effectively with team members, management, and clients.
