We are seeking multiple Staff Software Engineers to join the eCommerce team. In this role, you will spearhead the architecture, design and development of our next-generation eCommerce platform, ensuring a seamless user experience across all channels and different devices. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, you'll establish best practices for front-end and back-end development, leveraging concepts like the backend-for-frontend pattern and component libraries. Your contributions will span various product areas, including eCommerce shopping, enrollment, SEO, and marketing landing pages, driving our mission to deliver consistent, intuitive, perfromant, and high-quality experiences at scale.

You have proven industry experience in software design and development. You are a solution-centric, results-oriented, and experienced Software Engineer. You want to “build what’s right, not what’s easy.” You will work with other engineers in a collaborative environment to improve the overall quality while achieving timely delivery of solutions. You are ambitious, talented, and driven to make the team and project successful.

Responsibilities:

Develop comprehensive architecture and design documents to translate abstract ideas into tangible software designs utilizing design principles.

Hands on implementation of end-to-end eCommerce solutions, ensuring seamless experience across various customer touch points and devices.

Collaborate closely with cross-functional engineers to deliver high-quality solutions, including robust unit, integration, and functional tests, surpassing customer and business expectations.

Engage with leaders and team members across Engineering, Product Management, UX Design, Analytics, and Marketing to provide valuable insights on user-centric and technically feasible solutions.

Drive the establishment of development standards and assess technology options to ensure optimal performance and scalability.

Lead and mentor software engineers at varying levels while driving the development of one or more solutions.

Thrive in a dynamic environment characterized by rapid iterations, continuous learning, and a passion for overcoming obstacles.

Basic Qualifications:

BS in Computer Science or similar field

8+ years of hands-on experience in fast-paced full-stack product development environments.

Must reside in Mountain Time (MT) or Pacific Standard Time (PST) and work extended hours due to regular meetings with our Xiamen Team (early morning & evenings).

Preferred Qualifications:

Expertise in modern front-end development technologies like JavaScript, Vue.js, React.js, Backbone, Next.js, and Nuxt.js, emphasizing reusable component design and mobile-friendly user interfaces with CSS techniques such as grids, flexbox, and breakpoints and standards such as ES6, ES5 .

Proficiency in back-end development using technologies like Java, SpringBoot, GraphQL, and Node.js.

Proficiency in working with SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., Oracle, Postgres, MongoDB).

Advanced understanding of microservices architecture, RESTful services, event-driven architecture, and cloud-native software development, prioritizing automated integration and functional testing.

Proficiency in working with GIT, Jenkins, AWS/GCP, CI/CD, feature flagging, A/B testing (Adobe, Target, Optimizely), distributed tracing, Server Side Rendering, Performance improvement and testing for full-stack eCommerce application.

Experienced in modernizing tightly coupled monolithic Java and other technology-based applications into domain-specific, stateless, and event-driven architectures.

Familiarity with search engine optimization technologies, techniques and strategies.

Knowledge of web page performance optimization and relevant metrics.

Experience with advanced client-side user interaction concepts like render loops, instancing, shader optimization, and path finding.

Understanding of content management systems like WordPress and Gatsby.

-The base pay range reflects the anticipated pay range for this position. The actual base pay offered will depend on various factors including individual skills, experience, performance, qualifications, the department budget, and the location where work is performed. Base pay is one component of eHealth’s total rewards package, which also includes an annual performance bonus, plus an array of benefits designed to support employees’ personal and professional wellness.
