Position: Scrap Metal Operations Manager
Reports to: Director
Hours:
7:00 am – 4:30 pm Monday through Friday
7:00 am – 12:00 pm Saturdays
Summary:
Scrap Metal Operations Manager in the day-to-day operations in support of Culpeper Recycling. Must be mechanically inclined; and capable of managing the scrap processing facility and the equipment associated with it. Must be familiar with the operation of heavy equipment ranging from forklifts, Skid Steers, excavators, logger/balers, vertical balers, shears and magnets. Must be capable of managing the maintenance program/scheduling for all equipment. Must be familiar with OSHA regulations and keep Culpeper Recycling in compliance.
Essential Responsibilities:
Plan daily/weekly manpower needs based on business demands and closely monitor overtime hours and dollars;
Maintain accurate purchasing/pricing based on current COMEX values;
Assigns tasks ensuring efficient allocation of labor maximizing productivity;
Motivates trains and develops a productive cohesive team;
Maintains the upkeep and maintenance of capital investments (i.e. building property, equipment, etc.);
Maintains an organized and logical yard operation;
Manage and maintain relationships with the public with the ability to resolve any conflicts in a way that leads to positive resolutions.
Working with the Director; establishing selling of Ferrous and Non-Ferrous metals to maximize profitability.
Requirements:
Proven communication skills that are effective at working and motivating others and building relationships with customers;
A working understanding of scrap, operations, transportation, and pricing;
Basic knowledge of cost accounting principles and the ability to read and understand income statements;
High School Diploma or GED;
Ability to operate a forklift, skid steer, and/or other heavy machinery;
Read and comprehend labels and MSDS sheets;
Demonstrate visual recognition of workplace hazards;
Successful supervisory/management experience of team(s) that resulted in profitable outcomes;
Work in outdoor season conditions hot/cold weather.
Compensation/Benefits:
Annual Salary 65,000 - 80,000 (based on industry experience) with opportunity for annual bonus
Benefits package negotiable
KPIs/Bonus structure established over Year 1
Hours are a guideline, time sensitive work must be completed daily.
