Job Description

As the Manager of Structures Engineering, you will play a critical role in ensuring the structural integrity, compliance, and safety of our aircraft modifications. You will work in a collaborative environment, supporting and coordinating the engineering team in the design, analysis, and certification of various and often complex aircraft modification projects. This position requires a strong knowledge of aircraft design and analytical methods as well as FAA structures certification regulations.

Essential Functions:

Manages design and stress analyst staff

Provides engineering direction, from conceptual design development through completion of project detailed design & analysis

Reviews engineering designs including drawings & reports for accuracy & completeness; ensures

that the associated design & analysis is in compliance with regulatory (FAA or other cognizant

airworthiness authority) and/or commercial requirements

Interfaces with Director of Certification to support Supplemental Type Certificates and/or other regulatory or commercial programs.

Coordinates and monitors consulting engineers and/or companies utilized to support engineering projects

Coordinates engineering department resources in support of company engineering requirements

Serves as technical point of contact for engineering projects

Aligns team strengths to deliver on the following (5) vital factors: Safety, Customer Satisfaction, Schedule, Budget and Team Development

Drives change through goal setting, rewards, and accountability

Establishes staff work assignments

Reports to the Vice President, Engineering or other designated senior manager

Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Familiarity with aircraft engineering resources such as MMPDS, Bruhn, Roark, etc.

Working knowledge of typical aircraft structure, including materials, processes, hardware & composites.

Familiarity with both airframe modifications and new airframe design

Thorough knowledge of 14 CFR Part 23 & 25 designs, construction & structures regulations.

The applicant must have excellent communication skills, be fluent in English (spoken and written) and proficient in MS Word and Excel.

The applicant must be able to lead the engineering staff and work well with upper and lower

employees and management.

Bachelor of Science, Aerospace, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering.

Master of Science or equivalent experience preferred. Master of Business Administration a plus.

Minimum of 15 years of aircraft structural substantiation experience including Finite Element Analysis (NASTRAN FEMAP), traditional hand calculations & report writing.

Physical Requirements:

Frequently required to sit, and to reach to use computers and other office equipment

Frequently required repetitive movements of wrists, hands, and/or fingers
