Position Summary: The Mohs Technician provides support in lab using special Mohs cutting procedures for microscopic diagnosis. Accessioning of specimens and grossing, etc. Accurately and promptly reports results with minimal supervision. Perform routine and specialized lab tests and procedures with documentation of adequate quality control.

Embed, sections tissue, and stain tissue.
Assist with laboratory record keeping and logs.
Clean cryostat equipment, inking station, counters, and wipe down all instruments. Defrost
Cryostat and scrub auto strainer containers. Label all slides.
Discard all chemicals, sharps, and tissue samples in proper disposal container as per standards established.
Employees may also perform other duties as assigned.
File slides from previous day.
Helps maintain and organize surgical instruments in the Mohs lab as required and as per standards established to include preparing and transporting of surgery instruments to Sterile Processing department.
Prepare for and maintain Laboratory regulatory preparedness.
Prepare microscope for use, including computer with microscope program.
Set up inking station including testing stainer.
Test cryostat and prepare tissue chucks for use.
Turn on/fill/change chemicals in stainer and set up cryostat with proper supplies such as freeze spray, freeze medium, slides, and microtome blade.
Assist with ordering supplies needed in the Mohs laboratory.
Packaging and transporting all necessary equipments and supplies needed for Mohs surgery for different locations.
Accompany patient to exam/procedure room
Prepare patients for examination and treatment
Check the schedule and organize patient flow
Must have DERM/EMA experience
Prepare exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments and supplies
Ensure that all treatment rooms are cleaned and stock at the end of the workday
Assist providers in preparing the patient and the facilities for minor surgeries
Prepare and maintain supplies and equipment for treatments, including equipment sterilization
Assist with scheduling of patient's tests and treatments
Cleaning and spore testing of the autoclave, adhering to scheduled maintenance and maintain record-Maintenance of biopsy log, biopsy slides, and pathology reports
Process prescription refills in compliance with established procedures, assuring authorization for prescriptions as needed
Other Duties as assigned.
Requirements
No experience required and will be trained on essential duties
Must have reliable transportation and be able to travel to other CSI locations
Knowledge of medical office management systems and procedures
Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
Social perceptiveness and service oriented
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational and planning skills
Proficiency in MS Office and patient management software, Nextech
Will need to travel to other CSI clinic locations
