Salary: $198,523 - $243,191

SUMMARY

The Vice President (VP), Strategy & Impact, is a new and pivotal role at USA for UNHCR (U4U), responsible for monitoring the organization’s progress against its strategic plan, overseeing and guiding programmatic work including a domestic grants portfolio and key external partnerships, advising on CEO external visibility and engagement, “agenda setting” and leadership support for the Executive Leadership Team, and leading annual operational planning.

This role is focused largely internally and will help define, advance, and assess U4U’s strategic priorities, playing a critical role in guiding the organization’s overall impact and effectiveness. This role requires a “dot connector” who loves working with and alongside dedicated humanitarians. A passion for U4U’s mission is an absolute must. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead the implementation of U4U’s multiyear strategic and annual operational plans, engaging with the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and the Board of Directors to define long-term goals, assess environmental implications for strategy, and develop strategic roadmaps.

Responsible for developing and tracking key performance indicators (KPI’s) related to strategic initiatives and program effectiveness.

Lead and facilitate cross-functional collaboration, ensuring alignment of departmental goals with the organization’s strategic objectives.

Engage with key external stakeholders, including but not exclusively UNHCR, to manage U4U’s prepared and strategic participation.

Guide key institutional processes in alignment with the mission and goals of U4U.

Demonstrate transformational leadership qualities, inspiring and motivating teams across the organization while fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.

Advise on external CEO visibility, engagement, and manage the workflow to ensure meeting of important deadlines; Support the CEO’s work portfolio and manage information flow to the Executive Office.

Establish and/or better align existing systems to measure the effectiveness and impact of U4U’s work.

Oversee the conceptualization and execution of U4U’s programmatic portfolio, including a modest but highly leveraged domestic grants portfolio; ensure effective management by grants managers.

Ensure effective management processes are in place, facilitating impactful storytelling from partners, and overseeing the overall grants portfolio to extend the reach and impact of U4U’s programs and initiatives.

Identify innovative solutions to complex challenges and adapt strategies to evolving environments and emerging trends in the field.

Keep leadership and the board informed about strategic progress and impact.

Oversee annual budgeting and resource allocation in support of strategic priorities.

Partner with ELT for the successful execution of strategic priorities through business process improvement.

Supervise the Communications, Advocacy and Community Engagement, The Hive, and the Executive Office teams.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

At least 15 years of fundraising experience in strategic planning, implementation and monitoring and track record in maximizing leadership team effectiveness; Proven expertise in non-profit management; experience in international development, humanitarian aid preferred.

Bachelor's degree required; relevant advanced degree business, management, or a related field preferred.

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Strategic thinking and decision-making.

Strong ability to analyze data and trends to inform decisions.

Demonstrated ability to foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, as well as a diverse and inclusive workplace.

Proficient in Microsoft applications and other programs and software; exemplary Powerpoint skills highly prized.

Social media experience preferred (LinkedIn in particular)

10-20% travel anticipated

WORK LOCATION

Hybrid + New York, NY + May also involve travel to some locations within the company’s region of operations and select donor locations.
