The Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating program management activities by performing tasks related to data tracking, analysis, and implementation of results that meet the goals/objectives of the department.

Overview

The Department of Global Pediatric Medicine (GPM) is a growing department looking for professionals who are eager to help implement the St. Jude Global (SJG) mission of training the clinical workforce, developing and strengthening health systems and patient-centered initiatives, and advancing knowledge to sustain continuous improvement through research.

Responsibilities

GPM is seeking a Project Coordinator to support global collaborative Health Systems and Policy initiatives. SJCARES Policies is a tool suite designed to appraise the health policy environment to scale-up childhood cancer control via evidence-informed policy interventions and optimize national health and cancer control planning, inclusive of children and adolescents with cancer. The Policies tools aim to collaboratively address challenges with others interested in bridging evidence-to-policy and policy-to-action gaps - including policy designers, implementers, researchers and advocates at a national, regional, and global level. The Policies suite, developed by the Health Systems Unit (HSU), encompasses tools focusing on national cancer control planning (NCCP), including NCCP Digest, a structured country-specific summary that distills the relevant national policy landscape, policy content analyses and facilitates policy dialogues; and NCCP Ontology, a multi-lingual lexicon culled from policy documents and mapped to key policy concepts, as a resource for policy analysis and design.

The GPM National Cancer Policies Project Coordinator is responsible for the following:

Consolidate, develop and refine materials into a quick start guide which can be used by local teams and HSU, incorporating PowerPoint presentations, reports, spreadsheets, graphic and text data with templates and sample data to guide NCCP Digest implementation.

Create and maintain materials to clarify the process and workflow for NCCP Digest teams, and onboard teams.

Maintain updated, harmonized set of NCCP Digest summary materials, ensuring clarity, effectiveness, and consistency. Review findings from previous NCCP Digest implementation and produce appropriate data products from findings; improve existing products.

Create a well-structured standardized data repository of materials used in NCCP Digest implementations. The repository will include internal documents for HSU, and those ready to re-share with local and/or global collaborators. The repository will include finalized documents, as well as working documents/templates that require versioning and updating over time.

Consolidate, develop and refine multi-lingual lexicon for policy analyses, harmonizing and standardizing templates and processes to facilitate use of the NCCP Ontology, as well as incorporating policy-informed updates by collaborators and HSU into the living NCCP Ontology.

Create and help implement materials to monitor and track progress to help follow-up with teams during and after review of a country-specific NCCP Digest and use of NCCP Ontology.

Coordinate and document action points from planning/review meetings; respond to queries from teams.

Coordinate and organize NCCP Digest workshops (preparing agendas, invitations, facilitating activities, etc).

Create NCCP Digest, Ontology and other Policies materials to support manuscripts, reports and presentations.

Assist with ad-hoc national policy related activities between HSU and in-country partners.

Assist with policy tasks associated with HSU as coordinating body for the WHO Collaborating Centre for Childhood Cancer.

Skills and Abilities

Technical skills in global health systems and policy (including researching/monitoring)

Excellent organizational skills and attention to details

Strong communication and analytic skills

Demonstrated problem solving skills

Able to analyze, synthesize and adapt to new information quickly

Familiarity with quality improvement and implementation science methodologies a plus

Familiarity with project management frameworks in health related and resource-limited (low- and middle-income country) settings strongly preferred

Familiarity with general medical/health services and health systems terminology

Language skills in one of the other 5 WHO official languages in addition to English an asset (French, Chinese, Spanish, Russian, Arabic)

Experience with data visualization (e.g., using PowerBI) an asset

Flexibility in schedule to accommodate meetings across different time zones

Flexibility to travel (estimated 20%) for on-site facilitation, as needed and as feasible

Experience leading multi-sector stakeholders in implementation efforts strongly preferred

Demonstrated ability to plan and coordinate multiple projects/work initiatives

Cultural sensitivity is a must

Minimum Education

Bachelor's degree in public health, public policy, epidemiology, or related field required

Master's degree in public health, public policy, epidemiology, or related field preferred

Minimum Experience

Three (3) years of complex project management experience

Experience with Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Outlook Calendar tools, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required

Fluency in a second language preferred

Experience in an international setting and with project management methodologies preferred

Supervisory and/or team coordinator experience preferred

Clinical background is preferred, research experience is a plus

CompensationIn recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $70,720 - $126,880 per year for the role of Program Coordinator, National Cancer Policies - Global Pediatric Medicine.
