Oregon Freeze Dry seeks a candidate who will implement and manage projects to maintain and enhance equipment and capabilities. This role ensures our assets support manufacturing and maintenance through technical assistance for production systems and facilities. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and process regulations, as well.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Supervise, lead, and coach maintenance team; employee training and development including annual SMART goals, Individual Career Development Plans, and department succession plans.

Executes all aspects of capital projects as assigned, including cost estimates, scope definition, capital appropriation requests, design specifications, bidding, budget management, contractor management, installation, and start-up; establishes viable contractors, vendors, and fabricators.

Identifies new technologies and equipment solutions to improve operations; participates in continuously improving procedures and processes for the maintenance department.

Performs work in accordance with all applicable local, state, and federal codes and regulations. This includes compliance with OSHA, USDA, FDA, UBC codes, SQF, and ISO regulations and programs as applicable.

Manage maintenance labor, materials, and projects through the company’s Enterprise Asset Management software system; track equipment history, and reliability, issue PM work orders, and critical alarms.

May be called on, at the discretion of the Manufacturing Superintendent to perform other activities or fulfill responsibilities in other areas as required

Required Qualifications

5 years of related work experience in a manufacturing environment and a Bachelor's degree in mechanical, chemical, or industrial engineering; including time in a supervisory role

Proven leadership skills and ability to drive results with a team

Demonstrated experience with scoping, managing, and executing successful capital projects in a food (or similar) manufacturing facility. Including financial analysis, estimating, and planning.

Knowledge of industrial ammonia refrigeration systems and demonstrated ability to troubleshoot ammonia refrigeration systems

Knowledge to ensure compliance with USDA, FDA, and Pharmaceutical guidelines and with all applicable company, federal, and local EH&S regulations, procedures, and policies.

Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office, PLC programming, and HMI programming.

Knowledge and experience with refrigeration, boilers, and water systems.

Must have a valid driver's license & reliable transportation to transport self between company facilities during work hours, as needed, and transportation to and from off-site company events.

Working Conditions

This role involves working in diverse settings including office, manufacturing, outdoor, and elevated areas, necessitating frequent walking, standing, climbing, as well as bending and twisting. The ability to see, hear, speak, and effectively use hands for various tasks is essential. Candidates must be capable of following instructions via two-way radio or phone and be able to lift/move up to 40 lbs. Work environments will vary, exposing employees to different temperatures, moisture levels, noise, and potential food allergens. Occasional travel to other OFD locations, vendor sites, and training venues is also required.
