Our Tucson, AZ client has a contract opening for a Clinical Laboratory Assistant.
This role is a 3-month contract and is designed for college students on summer break who would like real-world lab experience.

JOB SUMMARY:
This job is located in the CAP/CLIA Laboratory. Utilizes good documentation practices and follows laboratory safety policies.
Maintains ethical standards in the performance of testing and in interactions with patients, coworkers, and other health care professionals.
Upholds company mission and values through accountability, innovation, integrity, quality, and support and comply with the company's Quality Management System policies and procedures.
Abides by all relevant local, state, and federal regulations for practice within a licensed clinical laboratory.
Responsibilities:
Performs laboratory tests, procedures, and analyses according to standard operating procedures.
Performs, reviews, and documents laboratory quality control procedures.
Operates and maintains laboratory equipment.
Prepares reagents required for laboratory testing.
Assesses, prioritizes, and batches samples for processing based on test, study, and turn-around time.
Completes training and maintain ongoing competency in all procedures performed in the clinical laboratory.
Completes 12 Continuing Education Units annually to maintain compliance with applicable state regulations.
Documents laboratory quality observations and escalates issues to CLSs or supervisors as needed.
Performs testing procedures for research studies.

Formal Training/Education:
Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline - PREFERRED
Experience:
Minimum of 6 months related laboratory experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience - PREFERRED
Clinical laboratory experience including but may include settings of hospital or clinical laboratory assistance and specimen processing - PREFERRED
Prior use of LIMS system for sample accessioning, testing, and/or reporting. - PREFERRED
Prior experience with RNA/DNA extraction. - PREFERRED
Knowledge, Skill or Ability Req Pref Proficiency:
Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills, such as word processing and laboratory information systems. - REQUIRED
Ability to work a designated schedule and adapt to changes in the workflow. - REQUIRED
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - REQUIRED
Strong understanding of good laboratory practices and regulatory compliance. - REQUIRED
Knowledge of medical terminology. - REQUIRED
Knowledge of basic molecular biology techniques and manual laboratory skills. - PREFERRED
Ability to handle single and multichannel pipettes. - REQUIRED
Ability to work independently and dependently as a team. - REQUIRED
Ability to work under direct and constant supervision of the Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS). - REQUIRED
