POSITION OVERVIEW:

Responsible for the flawless launch of new assembly lines, conceptualizing and developing assembly processes; identifying and finding solutions for quality and manufacturing issues; onboarding and leading an integrator; and ramping up to SOP. Lead homeline development events to meet customer dimensional and production requirements. Manage launch activities, engineering changes, and VAVE activities. Support quality fast response meetings and troubleshoot production issues on the line. Update and create PFMEA’s, process flows, work instructions and understand the product GD&T.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Engineering Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering

Minimum five to eight (5-8) years related experience within an automotive assembly or similar manufacturing industry

Experience in managing assembly line design, build, fabrication, and integration required

Able to read and interpret GD&T, CAD drawings, and experience with AutoCAD

Good knowledge of MIG welding aluminum and galvanized steel

Knowledge of stamping and hydroforming processes

Proven project management skills

Experience leading an assembly integrator

Great communication skills and presentation skills for customer interface

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Willing to support daily and weekend overtime requirements to meet customer needs

Flexible to travel within North America as well as overseas

RESPONSIBILITIES / EFFORTS / WORKING CONDITIONS:

Handle medium to large size projects from inception to completion (timing, feasibility, design, construction, try-out, launch, final buy-off, prototype programs, engineering changes, and continuous improvement) with moderate follow-up by leadership.

Develop assembly processes from scratch: integrator sourcing, layout, process flow, cycle time charts, weld map, datum scheme, PFMEA, and ergonomic assessment.

Identify potential manufacturing and quality issues during design phase and develop robust product and process solutions to minimize impact to company and customer

Conducts appropriate Manpower efficiency studies

Prepares reports, charts, and other documentation required for engineering projects

Update and maintain build standards and catalogue of acceptable parts.

Works with all departments and customers to design solutions that improve production efficiency, ergonomics, safety and maintenance related issues

Assists in developing material handling logistics

Reviews, monitors, and co-ordinates tooling design, build, and capital budgets

Supervises equipment relocation and installation to company.

Assists in setting up preventative maintenance program for new equipment

Assists in resolving quality concerns

Reviews, co-ordinates and implements all customer approved engineering changes

Interfaces with production departments, customers, and vendors to design packaging solutions

Reviews, monitors and co-ordinates custom packaging design, build, approval process and capital budgets

Assists in setting up preventive maintenance program for e-coat and shipping racks

Co-ordinates all required actions to resolve quality and safety concerns related to packaging

Reviews, co-ordinates and implements packaging changes

Supports new business quoting process with packaging recommendations

Supports activities for successful attainment of PPAP and GP-9

Follows and complies with all Operational Procedures and Policies as Outlined in the Team Member Handbook, Quality and Environmental Programs (i.e. TS16949, ISO14001)

Understands, promotes and lives by company philosophies and the Employee’s Charter

Performs other duties as required
