Valero is looking to hire an Associate Chemical Engineer. Opportunities could be in the following areas:

Associate Process Engineer

The Associate Process Engineer provides technical support through troubleshooting, optimizing, and designing, which will help maximize plant profitability.

Daily Responsibilities may include:

Learns organization and work flow.

Participates in HAZOP, works temporary assignments in Operations, Laboratory, etc.

Provides process monitoring and optimization recommendations to the process operating department.

Provides troubleshooting and performs basic engineering calculations such as material and heat balances on the units assigned.

Provides basic process design and evaluation of equipment and piping systems such as heat transfer and hydraulic calculations.

Provides the operating department with assistance during start-up, special operations and T/A of the assigned units.

Associate Control Systems Engineer

The Associate Control Systems Engineer improves Refinery operations and profitability through design, implementation and maintenance of control systems and supervisory control systems.

Daily Responsibilities may include:

Implements and maintains supervisory Control Systems.

Manages, coordinates and designs or assists in design of supervisory control projects. Projects involve specification, purchase and maintenance of computers and peripheral equipment, design of controls or approval of contractor's design, coordination with instrumentation engineers on instrument hardware and configuration required for control and commissioning of controls in the unit, coordination with operators on control design and implementation.

Maintains existing supervisory controls to keep controls in operation and configured or tuned optically for unit configuration or dynamic changes.

Designs and maintains operator interface to computer supervisory controls.

Recommends changes to process design, unit operation or process control design to improve unit operation or as required for advanced control projects.

Specifies and designs control systems to enhance or to solve unit problems, including hardware and software.

Develops plans for future supervisory control work and associated computer systems, equipment and software based on economics and necessity.

This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.

Bachelor's or higher level degree in Chemical Engineering, required

Graduation date of December 2023 or May 2024, required.
