Job Description

First Baptist Church (Bellows Falls, VT) Bi-Vocational Pastor

The Big Picture

First Baptist Church (fbcbellowsfalls.com) is seeking a bi-vocational Pastor.

The Church

Our church is fairly small (about 69 members with an active group of about 20) but we thrive in our church life! We gather every Sunday to hear inspirational messages from the Bible that are lectionary based and Gospel oriented and to enjoy our wonderful music program. We seek to nurture and connect with each other both inside and outside of church.

Pre- COVID we had a sizeable Sunday School, but have lost all our youth

who are now teenagers. We would love to bring them back to us. Our congregation is, as is the population of Rockingham, predominately Caucasian. We are a very mission-oriented congregation and support the ABC Missions as well as

several local mission programs. The First Friday of every month we host a dinner to raise funds for a different charitable organization each time.

Our church borders the business district of the village. Our church building was built and dedicated in 1856. There have been several additions and improvements made over its long history. Our pipe organ was installed in 1902 and is still used every week for our traditional church service. We seat 144 attendees comfortably. We have fellowship rooms downstairs for coffee hours and special events.

Requirements

The Candidate

We are looking for a bi-vocational Pastor of about 20 hours a week, up to 30 hours if justified. A commitment to mission, pastoral care, teamwork, administrative support and a sense of humor are important. We would hope for someone to live fairly local to be available for home or hospital visits as needed and to attend our monthly dinners and other special events, and work together to grow our church family.

The Community

Bellows Falls, Vt. is located in southeastern Vermont, next to the New Hampshire

border. It is a village of about 3,000 people, a part of the Town of Rockingham, total population of about 5,000. The general population count has remained stable over the past several years.

Benefits

We are able to offer a generous part time salary, based upon experience and hours

Worked. We may also be able to offer a partial housing stipend if needed. An expense account is also a part of our annual budget to cover mileage, materials, etc. We have a Christian Ed fund that can assist with tuition funds for religious classes.
