Shift: Monday – Friday 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Our team of attorneys, analysts, programmers, and reviewers leads the industry in claims administration, settlement administration, and data management solutions. A settlement administrator distinguished by its talent, innovation, and cutting-edge technologies, BrownGreer designs and implements complex mass claims processes that can involve millions of claimants and billions of dollars in settlement funds.

Onboarding, training, and work functions will be completed in our Richmond, VA office and via a secure network remotely. This position is 80% remote and 20% in office. Candidates will be required to work in office on Wednesdays and must work remotely in Virginia all other days. Candidates may also be asked to come in office for certain business needs or trainings.

Functions:

Counsel is responsible for ensuring the integrity of claims data, providing work direction to Special Counsel, Analysts, and Claims Reviewers examining complex data and making determinations, and performing related tasks to ensure excellent client service. This position is also responsible for evaluating claims submitted to the Claims Administrator to determine if specific elements have been met.

Duties and Responsibilities, include but are not limited to:

Interpret Settlement Agreements and other authoritative materials and information to determine necessary procedures, policies, and processes for claims adjudication.

Identify and develop quality control solutions for the claimant information database through reports and validation checks.

Coordinate with Analysts, programming teams, and others to maintain and improve existing databases, develop new functionalities, recommend system enhancements and improvements to increase the overall operational efficiency of the team, and develop concise reports.

Operate individually to manage multiple projects simultaneously using information from multiple databases and Excel spreadsheets.

Create reports and dashboards in Excel and/or PowerBI for use in communicating progress and status of project work.

Research applicable law when requested and provide informed analysis.

Ensure timely responses to requests and communicate orally and in writing on all issues related to the program, including Claimant history and status of Claims, to the Client, Counsel, and others outside the firm.

Draft well-written communications and program documentation, including letters, notices, documents and language available on public websites, and more.

Prepare project work plans and procedures and develop strategies for problem-solving. Understand and be aware of all ongoing issues.

Provide support and guidance to Analysts on decision-making issues.

Determine and report required staffing levels and time required for project completion by identifying and assigning appropriate supervisors and teams to projects based on individual skill sets and existing project load.

Coordinate and supervise efforts and workflow of Analysts, Claims Reviewers, and Claims Specialists.

Prepare individual performance reviews and developmental plans and provide feedback.

Collaborate with Human Resources to document and address employee performance and/or employee relations issues.

Maintain and promote a safe and healthy work environment by enforcing organization standards and all applicable policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook, while adhering to legal regulations.

Qualifications:

Juris Doctorate degree and Bar License are required.

Minimum of 2-3 years of attorney experience desired.

Demonstrate strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience with Business Intelligence tools such as Power BI or Tableau.

Demonstrate flexibility to respond to and manage different tasks, often with competing priorities, and willingness to accept new task assignments and to “think outside the box” and solve problems.

Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.

Well-developed front-line leadership skills required.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills including ability to articulate instructions and solutions to less senior team members and to communicate effectively and professionally with Local Counsel and others outside of the firm. Must demonstrate confidence and comfort asking questions and communicating data inaccuracies.

Capacity for performing tasks requiring high levels of analytical ability and attention to detail.

Work independently and exercise sound judgment, when necessary. Ability to work under pressure and cope with multiple, competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Adjust messages, style, and learning strategies to fit target audience.

Present professional appearance, work standards, and demeanor that is reflective of a professional setting.

Work well in teams, self-starter, and quick learner.

Manage exposure to sensitive material that requires a high level of confidentiality.

Manage short and long-term projects and identify and meet time-sensitive deadlines. Assist with long-range planning for growth and for improvement of procedures.

Physical Requirements:

Sitting, standing, walking, keyboard/mouse use, lifting (11-25 lbs.) and bend occasionally.

Supervision Exercised:

Supervise Special Counsel, Analysts, and Claims Reviewers.

Supervision received from Partners or Sr. Counsel.
