Responsibilities

The Professional Traffic Operations Engineer will be a proven leader with demonstrated supervisory or management experience leading and developing a team. These activities include supervising and monitoring projects in progress in the department to ensure that work is executed on time and in accordance with the client’s requirements and within company policies, procedures, and standards. Responsibilities:

Lead and contribute to the design, analysis, and optimization of traffic operations projects.

Apply in-depth knowledge of traffic engineering principles to improve traffic flow, safety, and overall transportation efficiency.

Manage traffic operations projects from concept to completion, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate traffic solutions seamlessly into broader civil engineering projects.

Design and analyze traffic signal systems, including signal timing, phasing, and coordination to optimize traffic flow and minimize congestion.

Conduct traffic impact studies to assess the potential impact of development projects on traffic patterns and recommend mitigation measures.

Perform traffic safety analyses, identify potential hazards, and develop effective safety solutions for roadways and intersections.

Utilize traffic simulation modeling tools to assess and improve the performance of transportation systems under varying conditions.

Stay abreast of local, state, and federal traffic engineering regulations and standards.

Ensure that all traffic operations projects comply with relevant guidelines and requirements.

Engage with clients to understand their specific traffic engineering needs and deliver solutions that align with their objectives.

Collect, analyze, and interpret traffic data to inform decision-making and improve traffic operations efficiency.

Prepare technical reports, documentation, and drawings related to traffic operations engineering projects.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on transportation or traffic engineering.

Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.

6+ years of experience in traffic engineering or a related field.

Proficiency in traffic signal design, traffic impact studies, safety analysis, and traffic simulation modeling.

Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.

Familiarity with traffic engineering software and simulation tools.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Knowledge of relevant traffic engineering standards, guidelines, and regulations.
