Job Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team. As a Substance Abuse Counselor, you will play a crucial role in helping individuals overcome their substance abuse issues and achieve long-term recovery. Your expertise and guidance will provide support to patients as they navigate the challenges of addiction.

Responsibilities:

- Conduct patient assessments to determine the severity of substance abuse issues

- Develop personalized treatment plans based on individual needs

- Provide individual and group counseling sessions to address underlying causes of addiction

- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary

- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for patients

- Maintain accurate and confidential medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations

- Stay up-to-date with current research and best practices in substance abuse treatment

- Provide education and support to patients' families to promote understanding and recovery

- The counselor documents a client interactions using ICAnotes according to the programs timetable.

Skills:

- Strong knowledge of social work principles and practices

- Proficient in coding systems such as ICD-10 for accurate documentation

- Understanding of behavioral health theories and interventions

- Ability to conduct thorough patient assessments and develop appropriate treatment plans

- Experience with individual and group counseling techniques

- Familiarity with medical records management and confidentiality protocols

- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and adherence to privacy standards

- Proficiency in various psychotherapy modalities for effective treatment

- Understanding of applied behavior analysis principles for behavior modification

JOB DUTIES:

Individual Session.

Group facilitation.

EHR Documentation ( Tx plans, D/C summary, Interpretive summary, BioPsychSocial, & Progress notes).

POSITION REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

CAC-AD or CSC-AD Status preferred.

Alcohol and Drug Counselor Trainee may also apply.

Education -

Bachelor's Degree preferred

AA Degree may apply

Must be able to:

Provide effective substance abuse treatment.

Maintains case documentation and tracking.

Collaborates with primary care providers and referring agencies.

Provides outreach, linkage and/or reports to health, social, legal and funding departments and agencies as required.

SUMMARY OF WORK RESPONSIBILITIES:

Demonstrate ability to effectively engage clients with substance abuse issues.

Responsible for intakes and assessments, problem identification, treatment planning, recording progress notes, and developing discharge plans, review of continuing care plans.

Completion of progress notes with signatures and proper time documentation.

EXPERIENCE:

2 years of experience as a Certified Alcohol and Drug counselor preferred
