Accounts Payable Specialist

$55,000 - $70,000

(Hybrid, 2 days remote)

The City of Falls Church is looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to join our Finance team. The person selected will be responsible for managing payments to vendors and maintaining related records. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Deputy Director of Finance. The City is an independent municipality six miles from the nation's capital. The City is known for its urban village community, quality customer service, nationally ranked school system, environmental activism, and endless community activities.

Responsibilities:

Process invoices for payment, enter accounts payable data into computer system;

Reconcile vendor statements and resolve problems with vendors concerning invoices and payments;

Reconcile related general ledger accounts with supporting documents, analyze differences and resolve them, and prepare adjustments as necessary;

Assist with tracking expenditures for capital assets and enter them in the financial system;

Prepare accounts receivable invoices;

Maintain accounts payable records and assist in providing information needed for audits; Prepare tax reporting forms;

Collaborate with other departments to complete accurate records and provide technical support;

Perform a variety of office assistance tasks as required by supervisor;

Assist with special projects and reports as needed;

Perform related tasks as required.

Qualifications:

A combination of training, education and experience will be considered.

Knowledge of accounting terminology, methods and procedures, and standard office procedures, practices and equipment.

Highly organized and detail-oriented.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.

Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and accounting systems.

Associate’s degree in a related field, preferred.

Salary and Benefits: The annual salary range is $55,000 - $70,000, depending on qualifications.
