Medical Assistant

Full Time Day Shift Monday-Friday 8am - 5 pm Every Other Thursday, 5pm-8pm

**Pay Rate up to $17/hour**

Lutheran Social Services of Central Ohio is currently seeking a Medical Assistant for LSS Health Center (formerly Health Center at Faith Mission) in Columbus, Ohio. What will I do as a Medical Assistant with Lutheran Social Services?

Escorts patients to the exam rooms and gathers information by interviewing patient. Accurately takes and records blood pressure, height, weight, temperature, heart rate, and oxygen saturation.

Assists medical providers in the exam room and gives clear instruction to patients as instructed by provider.

Ensures all reports, labs and patient information are filed and available in the patients' medical record prior to their appointment.

Keeps exam rooms stocked, cleaned and organized with adequate medical supplies and maintains instruments and sterilizes equipment as required.

Serves as a liaison between patients and/or staff and the provider.

Maintains all logs and required checks (i.e. refrigerator temps, glucometer logs, autoclave, etc).

Perform waived testing, including Hemoglobin A1c, Urinalysis, Cholesterol, pregnancy testing, etc

Performs EKG's; phlebotomy duties; injections; and collects urine samples as needed.

Documents patient information thoroughly and accurately in the electronic health record.

Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following company policy and procedures under the supervision of the Health Center Manager

Assists with patient referrals including follow up.

Performs Reception and front desk functions as needed.

Performs other duties as necessary and assigned

REQUIREMENTS for a Medical Assistant with Lutheran Social Services:

High school education or equivalent required; associate degree preferred;

Medical Assistant Certificate required.

Some Medical Assistant experience preferred.

Maintains client confidentiality at all times

Is respectful and courteous to all patients and co-workers

Computer experience required, Microsoft Office preferred;

Excellent communication skills

Ability to document in and navigate the EHR

Ability to work in a team environment

Ability to multi task

Ability to take accurate vitals

Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities

Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with a wide range of people.
