Job Description

GENERAL FUNCTION:

Assist with the production of C-SPAN's Washington Journal, the network's daily live morning viewer call-in program, as well as other public affairs programming for the network.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists Producers in live control room and with the preparation of various program elements, including video clips and graphics.

Answers, screens and posts viewer calls for Washington Journal and other productions as needed.

Helps develop and maintain Washington Journal's social media presence.

Keeps computer database up-to-date.

Maintains accurate and detailed information on programming for the TV networks.

Coordinates with colleagues (fellow PAs, Producers, etc.) on status of program elements.

Edits programming in our Dalet content management system. Coordinates and executes workflow for video and graphics.

Performs timely and accurate work on program logs.

Other duties as assigned.

BACKGROUND/SKILLS:

Bachelor's degree in journalism, political science, history or related field.

Demonstrated knowledge of and interest in current events, politics and public affairs.

Understanding of C-SPAN programming and philosophy.

Attention to detail a must.

Strong social media skills.

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Ability to manage multiple projects under strict deadlines.

Availability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings and weekends.
