Full-time 42-Hour PTO Bonus Available!

POSITION SUMMARY

Prepares vehicle and equipment for service; waits for assignment from the Communications Center; responds directly and safely to Non-Emergency Transport and Inter-Facility Transports (NET/IFT) assignments; functions as AIC for NET/IFT; provides patient care while on-scene of a NET/IFT; prepares patients under varying environments to be safely moved to the ambulance for transport; is responsible for the safe and smooth transport of everyone on-board the ambulance ; unloads the patient from the ambulance with ambulance operator, and transfers patient care to the receiving facility; completes required documentation, and prepares the ambulance and equipment for the next NET/IFT assignment; this position is required to follow directives from the Communications Center and Field Operations Supervisors.

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Individual Responsibilities

· Maintains high standards for health, safety, welfare, and ethical behavior

· Adheres to all policies of agencies, institutional and regulatory bodies

· Conducts him/herself in a professional manner and ensures high levels of customer service.

· Supports, interprets and complies with the philosophies of the company

· Maintains own required certification and licensure, including current NREMT and Virginia EMT-B, Healthcare Provider CPR and Virginia vehicle operator’s license

Primary Responsibilities

Achieves and maintains standards of patient care and clinical performance in accordance with local and Commonwealth protocols; clinical care and medical control directives will be in the best medical interest of the patient and will be confined to the scope of practice for the level of certification as defined by the Commonwealth of Virginia

Loads and transports patients from a point of pick-up to the ambulance and from the ambulance, with ambulance operator to the point of destination; this includes lifting patients to and from backboard, stretcher, or equivalent, and maneuvering patients through hallways, up and down stairways, and up and down vehicle/handicap ramps as required

Is responsible at all times for the care and transportation of patients and for the accurate patient care record and timely completion of all required documentation

Operates all company assigned vehicles under control at all times and in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws and ordinances governing vehicle operation; must also comply with approved company policy regarding safe and efficient vehicle operations

Is responsible for appropriate responses to and compliance with all Communications Center and Field Operations Supervisor directives

Follows direction of management and/or senior ranked personnel

Maintains established standards of conduct at all times when working with physicians, nurses, public safety agency officials, other affiliated health care professionals and members of the general public

Is responsible for the proper care, use, and appearance of his/her assigned vehicles and equipment, including complete and accurate equipment inventories

Is responsible for appropriate radio transmissions

Reports to assigned area on time and when scheduled to work as assigned with other employees; must work in a respectful manner with assigned employees

Immediately reports to the Field Operations Supervisor (or designee) and the Communications Center, any malfunctions of and/or damage to any equipment, whether or not they were using or operating the equipment at the time of the damage or malfunction; responsible for accurate documentation of said incident within appropriate time frame

Immediately notifies the on-duty Field Operations Supervisor, or designee, and the Communications Center of any incident not within normal or required operations; responsible for accurate documentation of said incident within accepted time frame

Adheres to all policies and directives set forth in the Company’s SOG manual and Employee Handbook and other policies promulgated by the company

Responsible for other duties as assigned by management

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

· Possess and maintain current Commonwealth of Virginia EMT-B certification

· Possess and maintain current certifications in the following:

· Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

· Other certifications as required by the Health Department and/or Medical Control Board

· Have a high school diploma or GED certificate

· Possess and maintain current Virginia vehicle operator’s license

· Maintain motor vehicle records in compliance with company policy

· Be adept with the use of map books, and be able to receive and follow written and/or verbal instructions appropriately

· Be able to maintain a positive attitude under a variety of conditions, and relate appropriately to a variety of individuals.

· Be physically able, as determined by examination determining fitness, to perform job functions as described

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

· Must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time.

· Perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling equipment.

· Must have substantial movements of the body, wrists, hands, and or fingers.

· Must be able to work in various environmental conditions as well as temperature changes.

· Required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles and or equipment.

· Must be able to perceive the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction and receive detailed information through oral communication.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

· Candidates selected for employment are subject to an oral swab to screen for illegal drugs. Candidates who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with the Richmond Ambulance Authority

· Candidates selected for employment are subject to a fingerprint background screening. Candidates who refuse to be fingerprinted will be denied employment with the Richmond Ambulance Authority

· Candidates must complete and pass the physical agility screening as set by the Company’s medical provider. Refusal to do/complete, or satisfactory evaluation will result in the candidate being denied employment with the Richmond Ambulance Authority.

· Participation in the COVID-19 vaccination program, or having an approved medical or religious exemption on file with Human Resources, is required for all Richmond Ambulance Personnel

· New employees must complete a probationary period of 60 days

SIGN ON BONUS:

After 90 days of employment, the new employee will receive 42 hours of paid time off to use at any point during their employment with the Richmond Ambulance Authority.
