Custodian/North Side/Central

Job Description

Sweeps, mops, strips, seals, finishes. Vacuums carpets, area rugs and runners

Washes all walls and windows, removal of interior graffiti

Cleans and sanitizes lavatories and locker rooms

Cleans and sanitizes all fixtures- sinks, toilets, urinals, showers, faucets and drinking fountains

Dusts and polishes desks, woodwork & trim, shelves, ledges, banisters & rails, furniture (tables, chairs, desks), and other equipment

Refills soap, toilet tissue and paper towel dispensers

Empties wastebaskets and collects and disposes of refuse, old books, other trash in outside dumpster or another designated receptacle

Set up & tear down of furniture (tables, chairs, etc.) for special events. Change ground marquees

Assists with removal of garbage bags in the kitchen area which may be heavy 50 – 70 lbs. at times

Turns lights on and off. Checks & secures all windows and doors to ensure that they are secured closed/locked before leaving facility. Permanent Custodians will set worksite facility alarms

May perform seasonal groundskeeping activities such as cleaning snow using snow shovels or snow blowers if available & spreading salt on facility steps, paths & main sidewalk to the front entrance.

General grounds maintenance such as clearing litter debris

Cleanup of spills, bio-waste (with approved equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE)

Restocks and maintains cleaning cart in a neat orderly manner as mandated

Informs immediate supervisor when cleaning supplies reach low levels

Must call in daily Monday – Friday for assignments. Must be able to be contacted via phone to receive work assignments and must maintain consistent regular attendance in the workplace as scheduled

Participates in regular required communication
