Salary: $55,000 to $65,000 with a potential for increase after a 90 day review

Job Title: Mobile Bilingual Food Ambassador

Job Summary:

The Mobile Bilingual Food Ambassador assists in the organization and coordination of distribution events providing healthy food options to youth and families at locations within designated Denver West neighborhoods. The Mobile Bilingual Food Ambassador also provides education to parents and children of healthy eating in a fun and engaging way.

Reports to: Director of Essential Services

Duties and Responsibilities: General

Provide case management services to clients.

Welcome clients, collect appropriate data, order, pick up, and organize food for community distribution, clothing, and hygiene for approved clients.

Provide nutrition education to children and families and co-create a culturally nutritional receipt book for community members.

Conduct media interviews.

Maintain timely and detailed records of all client interactions and other required documentation that conform to best practice standards, Food Safety/OBH guidelines, and SDLR Policies and Procedures.

Maintain confidentiality of client records.

Attend networking meetings and connect with businesses, service agencies, and community organizations to form partnerships and provide clients with resources.

Attend all staff training, in-service training, conferences, and development meetings as assigned by the supervisor.

Attend and participate in weekly meetings, supervisory sessions, and special events.

All members of the SDLR workforce are expected to support the agency’s fundraising objectives. Tasks might include active fundraising, grant development, solicitation of donations, agency ambassadorship, informational outreach, and public speaking.

All members of the SDLR workforce are expected to support the agency's community outreach, engagement, and recruitment efforts.

All members of the SDLR workforce are expected to support and engage in advocacy for social justice, community outreach and engagement, and bringing voice to the voiceless.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

Bilingual in Spanish and English.

Generate, edit, and present executive director monthly reports tracking food, clothing, hygiene pantry inventory, and monthly transactions.

Supervise, track, manage, and direct 4+ volunteers monthly totaling 50+ hours.

Organize community relief events, including selecting staff, contacting security, processing intake forms, and handing out relief packages.

Create and complete client intake forms and file records in Link2Feed (Government Pantry Portal), keeping all interactions with participants confidential.

Commitment to and experience with equity, cultural relevance, diversity, social justice, and disparity reduction practices with persons of color, agencies of color, and underserved communities.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, co-workers, agency partners, and the public.

Interact with participants, including providing information, scheduling appointments, and providing food, clothing, and hygiene items to approved clients.

Accurately check and record temperatures of refrigeration equipment to ensure food safety.

Prepare the food distribution area; ensure that received food is sorted, stocked, and stored appropriately.

Driving, picking up, transporting, and delivering food from donors with company van.

Distributing food support to community members.

Ensure food quality is maintained through appropriate sorting activities and report any issues.

Ensure maintenance and cleanliness of the food pantry areas daily, including freezers, refrigerators, and storage containers.

Creating child clothing bags, hygiene bags, and food bags with dry goods, produce, protein, and frozen foods for distribution.

Ability to cross reference material to documentation for verification.

Required Education and Credentialing:

High School Diploma required.

One to three years of relevant experience.

Working Environment and Physical Requirements

110-person workforce situated across multiple regional offices.

ADA accessible; Active Safety Committee.

Ability to perform basic office duties.

Ability to frequently lift and carry boxes weighing up to 35 pounds and infrequently up to 50 pounds.

Work in an environment with frequently changing temperatures.

Walk, squat and bend over for intervals of 15-30 minutes.
