SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Associate Estimator is responsible for reviewing & evaluating plans, bid specifications, drawings and performing an accurate take off in a timely manner. Once the take-off is complete, the Associate Estimator will work with Company approved vendors in obtaining accurate pricing for the materials. All costs for materials, labor, equipment, subcontractors, and such are to be evaluated and based upon company guidelines and experience, used to generate a concise and professional bid. During this entire process, the Associate Estimator may have to converse with clients, visit jobsites, and collaborate with team members in the preparation of an accurate, professional, detailed, and timely proposal that meets the client’s objectives. Also, and at all times, customer service and a positive helpful disposition is critical and mandatory.RESPONSIBILITES:

Perform material / scope take offs from drawings and plans.

Communicate on a regular basis with clients in the development of their scope / proposal.

Prepare and submit RFI’s for projects as required.

Organize all material and sub-contractor quotation to ensure quotes meet contract documents and align with buying the project out.

Analyze scope, drawings & specs & note issues, anomalies, or concerns (timing, site logistics, etc.).

Enter bid data into the Co.’s estimating spreadsheet & present to the senior estimator for review.

Analyze and strategize bids, competitors, margin, etc. to give the Co. it’s best chance to win the work.

Maintain relationships with clients, vendors, and subcontractors.

Visit jobsites & evaluate site conditions, access, soils, grades, and logistics that will impact the bid $.

Ensure all documentation is clearly organization in estimating folder for turn over to production.

Review special proposal requirements with the Sales / Project Management.

Track all bid changes and addendums.

Assemble scope letter with qualifications and exclusions of each specific project.

Work on multiple projects / estimates at one time (multi-task).

Prepare value engineering options when required.

Ensure that all bid forms are completed and properly executed.

Perform other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Minimum two (2) years of Estimating and Design experience.

Possess excellent customer service & teamwork skills.

Knowledge of acceptable safe work practices including wearing the necessary personal protective equipment (PPE).

Proactive self-starter, achieving high productivity with strong attention to detail; ability to work independently with little instruction; coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks, set deadlines, and complete projects in a timely manner is required.

Demonstrate the highest level of professional and ethical conduct.

Positive, tenacious attitude.

Strong verbal and written English communication skills.

Ability to work in a fast-paced and sometimes unpredictable environment; works well under pressure and tight deadlines.

Experience managing complex project/event logistics.

Some local travel – up to 25%.

Must possess a valid California Driver's License.

Ability to comfortably work with software and apps on a desktop, iPhone, and/or iPad.

Highly proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Experienced with using Estimating and Design software (i.e., On Screen Take-Off (OST), AutoCAD).

Quick learner and ability to figure things out on your own.LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to communicate effectively in English (oral and written).

Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information to effectively execute and achieve results.

Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.EDUCATION:

High School Diploma or GED certification, minimum requirement.

Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Management, Irrigation Management, Landscape Architecture, or related field, preferred.

Proven experience working as an Associate Estimator or a similar position.

Landscaping, construction industry experience highly preferred.COMPETENCIES:
