Overview:

Designs, validates and brings to market new products that will directly impact business results utilizing CAD (Computer Aided Drafting) or CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) systems to model new designs and produce detailed engineering drawings Specifies precise new product functional requirements; designs, tests and integrates components to produce final designs; evaluates the design's overall effectiveness, cost, reliability and safety Participates in cross-functional teams to assess technical needs and feasibility Designs, develops, executes and evaluates fitness-for-use testing, product specifications and process validation plans Collaborates with internal manufacturing partners, contract manufacturers, designers and product specialists to optimize designs for manufacturability Creates and reviews material part specifications and bills of materials Lays out and draws schematic or angle views to review functional relationships of components, assemblies, systems and machines.

Major Position Responsibilities:

Provides technical support to engineers in the design, maintenance, or improvement of new or existing products and/or components.

Uses computer-aided design (CAD) software to create complex designs, models and drawings.

May utilize computer-aided engineering (CAE) software tools to support and optimize the design engineering process for products, components, or structures.

May also produce final drawings, specifications, create parts lists or costs involved in production.

Performs inspections, checks, and tests to find flaws or inefficiencies in designs and determine solutions.

Performs field investigations and collects, maintains, and documents data for new or existing products, designs, or installations.

Trains subordinate personnel in the various Product Development disciplines and techniques.

Performs manual tasks according to established procedures

Requires full proficiency in a range of technical processes or procedures through job-related training and considerable on-the-job experience

Completes a variety of atypical assignments

Basic Qualifications:

Vocational/Technical Training Degree

Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/ or Experience

Associate's Degree

Technical training preferred

5-7 years prior experience in a similar position
