Overview:
The Professional Land Surveyor plays a crucial role in land development and construction projects. They are responsible for conducting accurate measurements and producing detailed maps and reports to support various engineering and architectural endeavors. The position requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of surveying principles.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct precise field measurements and boundary surveys using advanced surveying equipment
Prepare survey plats, maps, and reports in accordance with project requirements
Utilize GPS and GIS technology to gather and analyze spatial data
Collaborate with engineers, architects, and construction teams to provide surveying support
Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and quality standards
Manage surveying projects, including budgeting and scheduling
Perform research to determine property boundaries, easements, and rights of way
Provide expert testimony in legal proceedings as needed
Train and mentor junior surveying staff
Use CAD software to produce accurate drawings and plans
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, or related field
Licensure as a Professional Land Surveyor
5+ years of experience in land surveying
Proficiency in operating surveying instruments and equipment
Thorough knowledge of surveying techniques and principles
Ability to interpret engineering and construction plans
Expertise in GPS and GIS technologies
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Experience with CAD software for mapping and drafting
Understanding of relevant regulations and surveying standards
Capability to work in outdoor and sometimes challenging conditions
Project management skills for overseeing surveying projects
Attention to detail and accuracy in survey data collection and analysis
Ability to handle legal aspects related to property boundaries and rights of way
