Job Responsibilities
We are seeking an experienced mechanical engineer, with a strong background in design, testing, and successful product development and launch.
Core job responsibilities within the Engineering Department at Vorbeck for a Senior Associate, Mechanical Engineering are:
Creating new designs for flexible/wearable technologies that meet project and customer requirements
Building and testing prototypes and iterating on designs
Participating in multiple aspects of product design from concept development through product launch
Reading design specifications and technical drawings
Researching suitable solutions and estimating costs and timescales
Liaising with others in the product development team
Liaising with clients, contractors, and project managers
Developing and conducting test plans
Recording, analyzing, and interpreting test data
Qualifying final products or systems
Preparing product documentation
Writing reports and giving presentations
Monitoring products in use to improve on future design
Proposing modifications and retesting products
Supporting field tests and demonstrations
Contributing to the development of technical data packages for production
Other responsibilities and duties as required
Travel (expected) 5%-10%Qualifications
Qualifications/Skills
Desired qualifications and skills for a Senior Associate, Mechanical Engineering are:
Strong experience in mechanical design tools such as SolidWorks
Hands-on experience in using 3D printers, CNC machines, and other rapid prototyping and production equipment
Experience in materials and manufacturing processes such as injection molding and metal forming
Experience in product design, development, testing, and launch
Experience in design for manufacturability and assembly
Experience in mechanical design of electrical interconnect systems is a plus
A proven track record of detail-oriented mechanical engineering work
Demonstrated ability to solve challenging technical problems
Ability to lead fast-paced technical teams
Past performance in the management of engineering projects and on time delivery
Excellent presentation and verbal communication skills and strong technical writing ability
Possess, or have ability to obtain, a Secret or higher clearance with US Dept. of Defense
Education and Experience
Desired education and experience for a Senior Associate, Mechanical Engineering are:
BS degree in mechanical engineering or a related field
Master’s degree or PhD in mechanical engineering or a related field is a plus
Three to five years’ work experience in mechanical engineering
