Manager, Oracle Apps DBA Job Description :

Core Database Administration Responsibilities :

Lead and manage a team of database administrators, providing guidance, coaching, and support to ensure their professional growth and development.

Perform regular database maintenance tasks, including monitoring database performance, optimizing database configurations, and implementing backup and recovery procedures.

Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure proper integration of databases with other systems and applications.

Develop and implement database security policies and procedures to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with industry regulations.

Oversee the design, development, and implementation of database structures, ensuring efficient storage, retrieval, and processing of data.

Conduct regular database performance tuning and optimization activities to ensure optimal system performance.

Plan and execute database upgrades, patches, and migrations, minimizing downtime and ensuring data integrity.

Develop and maintain documentation related to database administration processes, procedures, and configurations.

Monitor database usage trends and forecast future database needs, collaborating with stakeholders to plan for database capacity and scalability.

Stay updated with emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in database administration and recommend innovative solutions to improve system efficiency and performance.

Communicate information to team members.

Create and deploy standby database to meet organizational guidelines.

Determine maintenance approaches for system changes.

Develop standards and procedures related to database environment.

Establish recovery points and restoration processes based on the back-up arrangements according to organizational guidelines.

Examine the risks of the database file system.

Implement change to resolve faults, based on agreed procedures.

Investigate methods to improve performance through reviewing the system performance and accessing technical resources.

Measure and record the change in performance resulting from the system modification, in order to assess that the required level of optimization has been achieved.

Modify system components in accordance with organizational guidelines and implementation plan.

Test the restoration processes.

Work with application team and setup database environment based on policy and application requirements.

Oracle EBS Administration Responsibilities

Provides support to investigate and troubleshoot issues related with E-business Suite applications, Oracle database and Oracle Exadata & ZDLRA machines.

Performs daily system monitoring activities to include verifying the integrity and availability of Exadata machines and E-business suite application server resources;

Supports the architecture and processes of Oracle 11g/12c/19c, E-Business Suite R12/12.2.10 & more.

Supports E-Business Suite / Oracle Utilities developers for custom coding, code migration, interface design, XML publisher reporting, SQL procedures and concurrent requests; and creates shell/SQL scripts, packages, and stored procedures to manipulate data;

Provides Oracle application systems administration including user account management and maintenance e.g., assigning printers, configuring and monitoring Concurrent Manager (CM) queues, scheduling jobs, setting up profile options and setup/configuration/administration of Oracle alerts and workflow mailer;

Evaluates, recommends and serves as Point of Contact (POC) for software and hardware for database, Oracle ERP applications and other third-party products.

Our minimum requirements for this role:

Required

Advanced knowledge of RDBMS, Oracle E-business Suite applications administration, technology stack, with upgrades, cloning and patching with AD Online Patching (ADOP) utilities;

Advanced knowledge of maintaining Oracle Engineered Systems Exadata Machines and Recovery Appliances (ZDLRA);

Knowledge of Oracle Grid Infrastructure 19c, ASM and RAC, Oracle Active Data Guard, RMAN, and Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 13c, Oracle application utilities, OAM, OID and Active Directory utilities;

Knowledge of diverse range of databases, including SQL Server, and IDMS.

Comprehensive knowledge of database technology, software technology, systems analysis, research techniques, systems development standards, quality and cost controls;

Knowledge of Oracle Application Object Library (AOL), Oracle EBS R12 data structures, workflows, Sub Ledger Accounting (SLA), Oracle PL/SQL, Oracle Application Framework (OAF), Oracle database management systems and application servers including Oracle WebLogic running on Oracle Linux.

Knowledge of WebLogic, SQL server database system software, utilities, back-up and recovery procedures install and upgrade procedures and experience with database techniques, performance and tuning and documentation.

Proficiency in RHEL, Oracle Linux, Oracle VM, Windows operating system Oracle RDBMS, Oracle middleware, infrastructure architecture, SQL and UNIX scripting;

Full life cycle Oracle E-Business Suite R12.2.7 or more implementation/upgrade project completion in an Application DBA role;

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Proven experience as a Manager or Team Lead in Database Administration.

In-depth knowledge of relational database management systems (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL) and their underlying architecture.

Strong understanding of database design principles and best practices.

Proficient in database performance tuning and optimization techniques.

Hands-on experience with database backup and recovery procedures.

Familiarity with database security concepts and implementation methods.

Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve database-related issues quickly.

Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team of database administrators.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Good project management skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.

Minimum of 10 years of experience in database administration and Oracle Business Suite in a large corporate environment that include including at least 3 years in a managerial or team lead role.

Professional certification in database administration (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified Database Administrator) is highly desirable.

Strong knowledge of industry-standard database management practices and methodologies.

Experience working in a highly regulated industry, such as Retail, is a plus.

Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., SQL, PowerShell, Python) is preferred.

Familiarity with cloud-based database platforms (e.g., Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, Microsoft Azure SQL Database) is a plus.
