Operations Manager

Job Description

Responsible for managing all operations activities in a steel processing facility.

Familiarity with chemical metal cleaning and coating as well as processing systems such as plating, water treatment, chemical coatings and heat treating is a major plus.

The position requires an individual who can be a hands-on leader developing the workforce and taking ownership for success in the operations. A technical background with relevant experience and/or engineering background is required.

Summary of Responsibilities:

Supervise and provide work direction for hourly employees.

Utilize a planned approach to continually improve products, processes, and services to ensure customer satisfaction.

Maintain a safe work environment by following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.

Plans employee workload distribution and maintains weekly schedules.

Supervises training of personnel and evaluates performance.

Develop and revise Work Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures.

Prepare reports, charts, and graphs to support daily operations as needed.

Assist with Customer Audits, ISO audits, and Tours as needed.

Understand SOP’s, work instruction, and train the workforce.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in management, Engineering, Related field, or Equivalent Experience.

5 – 7 Years Experience Managing in a Steel Environment or in a Heavy Industry.

Excellent verbal and written communication

Problem Solving and Critical Thinking Skills

Good mathematical skills.

Aptitude in database and worksheet programs (Excel, Word, QuickBooks)

Strong verbal, written and analytical skills.

Ability to organize and prioritize workload and meet deadlines.

Must be physically able to perform the essential job functions.
