Protection Engineer (4 - 6 yrs. of Exp)

Reports to: Team Leader - Team Manager
Key Responsibilities and duties:
Preparation of engineering documentation including Key Line
Diagram/Protection Interface and Single Line Diagram.
Preparation of Functional Design Specifications, Technical Specifications,
General Arrangement Drawings, Circuit Diagrams, System I/O Schedules,
Test Specifications and Operation and Maintenance literature.
Develop the project configuration by using the ABB/HE tools and software's.
To setup a testing platform (Procedures and Reports) to perform Factory
Acceptance Testing in conjunction with clients to achieve successful project
delivery and close out.
To work closely with and provide progress information to Project Managers,
ensuring timely delivery of all project milestones.
To actively participate in both design review and lessons learnt processes.
To play an integral part in the team's overall success and development of
work processes.
To provide technical support for PGGA products within the target delivery
markets.
Occasional LBU visit work required to supporting project teams as necessary.
To provide regular concise progress to Project Management, detailing any
current and/or potential issues that may affect programme or cost.
Scheme Development and Tender Support:
Provide technical support to the tendering team, when evaluating customer
requirements and answering technical questions, preparing documentation,
technical specifications, reports, architectures, task lists and time estimates.
People:
To be able to work within a skilled, diverse team and be innovation minded
delivering well engineered solutions, efficiently and to the required quality on
a consistent basis within the role of Protection Engineer
Qualifications:
Experience working & engineering with modern protection & control
systems software & hardware tools.
Experience in configuration and testing experience in various protection,
Transformer, Distance, Busbar etc…
Experience in the use of IEC type protocols (101, 103, 104, 61850)
Preferred testing and commissioning experience.
Basic knowledge on the primary systems Like, CT, VT & Transformers,
etc.
Strong design capability and experience in the engineering discipline of
Protection Systems / Power System.
High Technical experience with strong coordination skills.
Excellent communication skills with both internal and external teams and
customers.
Experience:
ABB 500 & 600 Series IEDs by using PCM tools
Experience of IEC61850 system design and configuration
Experience within the Electricity Supply Industry (National Grid an
advantage)
Proven Teamwork and Collaboration skills
Challenges:
To engineer and deliver high quality protection solutions against
programme milestones backed up with high quality documentation from
initial design through to Factory Acceptance Testing.
To challenge and review all elements of the technical solution delivery
process, identifying potential improvements in efficiency to minimise
project risks whilst ensuring customer satisfaction.
