This position is mobile/remote with base in Charlotte, NC or Chicago or Pittsburgh - Travel expectations up to 75%.

Purpose:

The HSE Senior Manager primarily drives a culture of safety throughout the AR Business Unit in North America. Through constant attention to people’s attitude, the Senior HSE Manager coaches all personnel on adopting and promoting safe behaviors., from Managers to Hourly workers, The HSE Senior Manager also ensures ongoing compliance to required company HSE standards, OSHA regulations, and DHEC/EPA environmental policies.

Conduct all duties within the context of the company CORE (Courage, Ownership, Respect, Energy) values.

Key Responsibilities:

Be the Champion on safe behaviors throughout the Business Unit. Create and facilitate HSE employee engagement to reach establish targets and objectives for the year.

Ensure best-practice sharing and safety awareness sharing through regular meetings gathering managers and leaders.

Support and ensure the creation of HSE goals for front line supervisor team and appropriate activity-based goals to drive HSE culture in cooperation with Operations.

Act as primary HSE contact for multiple plants – oversee full implementation of company safety and environmental standards, OSHA, EPA and governmental regulatory compliance.

Interface with regulatory bodies (OSHA, EPA and State/Local regulators), and/or support such interactions from Plant HSE Managers

Ensure that required regulatory permits are acquired, reports are submitted to regulatory agencies, and any site permit conditions (e.g. recordkeeping, air, storm water, waste, etc.) are met for the Business Unit.

Develop and implement a thorough training program for all employees for safety and environmental.

Work closely with the Management, Quality, Production and Lab personnel to monitor key safety and environmental aspects.

Ensure and support the development of annual Site Safety Improvement Plans and lead efforts to implement and complete as planned.

Introduce, train and ensure the use of visual management tools to highlight HSE activity and encourage continuous improvement.

Lead regular audits and assessments to ensure required HSE processes meet standards and are properly followed by the workforce.

Lead, train, and develop necessary HSE teams and committees that can assist in advancing HSE compliance and be prepared in event of an emergency.

Ensure that all sites (plants and customer locations where we have personnel) have a well-organized and documented Emergency Action Plan and conduct tests of this plan to insure it will be properly followed in times of need.

Lead all HSE incident investigation process, including cause analysis, identification of corrective action plans and timely communication to all parties.

Collect all necessary data to submit required internal HSE reports in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

* Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Engineering or equivalent technical discipline.

* Certified Safety Professional, preferred and/or equivalent experience.

* Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in safety management at a manufacturing facility.
