Summary/Objective:
The Sheet Metal/Equipment Operator will assist with fabrication, assembly, installation, and repairs of sheet metal products, ductwork, and equipment.
Essential Functions:
Helps set up tools and equipment
Fabricates assembles, alters, and repairs of sheet metal products and equipment (e.g., ductwork and hoods for HVAC systems) utilizing blueprints, drawings and work orders
Operates equipment including but not limited to: coli line plasma machine cutting tables; power shears; notchers; brakes; rollers; lock-formers; cleat benders; punches; pinspotters; insulation cutters; insulation adhesive applicators; saws; hand tools; and drill presses to cut, form, punch, insulate, seal, and assembles sheet metal
Selects gauges or types of sheet metal or nonmetallic material, according to product specifications
Performs quality work with a high degree of attention to detail in order to meet or exceed quality expectations
Understands, communicates and follows safety requirements as posted and directed by supervisors
Loads and unloads construction materials from trucks and into buildings
Cleans work area and restocks supplies and materials as necessary
Makes subassemblies and hangers as directed by mechanic
Assists in lifting, positioning, and securing of materials and devices during installation
Maintains good housekeeping and a safe work area
Willing to commit to developing your technical skills through our internal training programs and / or an Apprenticeship Program

Supervisory Responsibility: No
Required:
1-3 years' sheet metal experience in construction/industrial environment; or, equivalent combination of vocational training and experience
Coil line plasma cutting experience
Lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds
Knowledge of trade related hand tools
Must be able to pass post-offer pre-employment drug screen, and may be required to satisfactorily complete additional background checks as required (i.e. DMV, criminal history)
Must adhere to all company policy and procedures
Must be available, and have the means to report to multiple job sites as assigned, to include working varying schedules that may require extended hours (evenings, weekends and holidays) and require client-specific safety standards
The work environment and physical demands required would be representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, and may include, but are not limited to the following:
Work Environment:
May work in varying temperatures; both inside and outside, including inclement weather, heat, humidity, cold and dampness
May work in areas with exposure to moderate/high noise levels
May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles including dust
May be required to work in confined spaces or from high heights
Physical Demands:
This role routinely uses construction equipment such as heavy machinery, hand and power tools.
While performing duties of the job the employee may work aloft, climb, bend, pull, reach overhead, stand/walk for long periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs.
Frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms
Must be able to correctly identify all colors of a color-coded cable/wires and see close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus
Travel:
May require travel (typically not overnight)
Preferred:
Prior military experience a plus
HS diploma or GED equivalent
