Job Description

The Position

Phillips and Associates seeks an attorney with experience in employment law, civil rights law, police brutality law or municipal liability experience to work in a collegial environment in our Princeton, New Jersey office. This position would take the lead on cases and foster the firm’s efforts in prosecuting all manner of employment cases.

We are currently representing victims of discrimination in New York, Long Island, Westchester, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Florida. We have over thirty employment discrimination attorneys who are adept to handle high profile sexual harassment cases as well as all types of sexual assault, discrimination and wage & hour cases,

Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities include:

Communicating effectively with potential clients in order to recognize a case during the intake process

Managing a robust caseload of employment discrimination cases, primarily focused on single plaintiff sexual harassment, race, gender, age, pregnancy and disability discrimination claims.

Conducting thorough legal research and analysis to develop case strategies, identify key legal arguments, and assess potential outcomes.

Drafting, reviewing, and filing legal documents, including complaints, discovery demands/responses motions, briefs, and

Conducting depositions, witness interviews, and client consultations to gather evidence and build a strong case.

Representing clients in negotiations, mediations, settlement conferences, and court proceedings.

Providing legal advice and guidance to clients throughout the litigation process, keeping clients informed about case progress and potential outcomes.

Collaborating with other attorneys and legal professionals within the firm to leverage collective expertise and resources.

Our ideal candidate would be a lawyer advocate that is confident, creative, compassionate, great “on their feet” with excellent client management skills.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

Three to five years+ of federal litigation experience in one or more of the following: employment law, civil rights law, police brutality law or municipal liability law.

A knowledge of federal practice

The ability to hit the ground running handling a large caseload immediately.

Firsthand experience in all aspects of lawsuits from initial intake through settlement and/or trial.

Demonstrated interest and skill in legal writing, research, and analysis.

An ability to speak clearly, effectively, and persuasively

Outstanding time management and organizational skills, with careful attention to detail

A demonstrated ability to perform well independently and with grace under pressure in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.

A collaborative and collegial approach to work, and an ability and desire to work and learn in a team-based environment.

A commitment to advocating on behalf of those who have been deprived of their legal rights on the job

Admitted to the New York Bar

Compensation and Benefits

This is a full-time exempt position with competitive salary commensurate with experience and skills. Benefits include health, vision and dental, and an employer matching retirement contribution.
