The NZSIS Legal Team is looking for a talented, highly motivated, team manager to join our fun and collaborative directorate based in Wellington.

About the role

We can't reveal all the details of what you will get to work on, but it will be complex and challenging, cover a wide range of operational areas and it will contribute to the protection of New Zealand's national security.

Who are we looking for?

We're looking for someone who is keen to make a difference and be at the cutting edge of legal issues.

Ideally you will have:

Experience managing staff and be comfortable advising on a range of legal areas to support the organisation to take opportunities to fulfil its important functions, while ensuring we protect the secrets we need to keep.

10+ years post qualification experience.

You'll have a great sense of humour, collegiality and be a hard working person who enjoys finding practical solutions to novel issues.

To be eligible for employment within the NZIC you must have been a NZ citizen for at least 10 years. Alternatively you must hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and ideally have been a citizen of UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years.

You must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Special (TSS) security clearance. Ordinarily to obtain this level of clearance candidates must have a 15 year checkable background in countries where meaningful and reliable checks can be undertaken. Where requisite checks are unable to be made, the candidate application may not be able to be progressed.
