ROLE SUMMARY:

The Scrum Master is a leader and coach for a scrum team who facilitates team events and processes and supports teams and agile release trains in delivering value. Provides hands on leadership for Behavioral Health and Care Solutions Delivery teams. This individual will be working on several of the largest Technology initiatives for Evernorth targeted at revolutionizing Health Services and Healthcare Delivery system in the United States.

The focus of the work is to continue to enhance Evernorth’s market winning capabilities in the Behavioral Health and Care Solutions space. This is a hands-on position with visibility to the highest levels of Evernorth management who are driven to see our efforts succeed. The solution focuses on enabling this change through the use of the latest technologies and development techniques.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide leadership, agile mentoring, and agile coaching for the scrum team.

Track, Monitor, Decipher and Report sprint execution metrics.

Track sprint execution of the scrum teams to determine if the team is on track for sprint delivery.

Identify and drive process improvement opportunities.

Be a Servant Leader to the team, ensure that the team is not being over utilized and be their voice when help is needed to keep the train on the tracks.

Create and encourage "bottom up" communication and culture around all activities: process improvement, risk identification and strategic solutions by partnering and aligning more effectively with stakeholders (i.e. Solution Train Engineers, external Release Train Engineers, Care Solutions business partners).

Accountable for scheduling, leading and facilitating effective Scrum team meetings (Iteration Planning, Daily Stand Ups, Iteration Reviews)

Drives continuous improvement through facilitating team retrospectives, Agile maturity assessments each PI and driving teams toward identifying and acting on action items identified.

Provides coaching to Team Members to ensure they are demonstrating appropriate Agile behaviors and following Cigna-specific Agile practices.

Help to maintain high-performing teams.

Protects the team and communicates risks (removes impediments / blockers)

Helps coordinate inter-team cooperation.

Facilitates preparation and readiness for Agile ceremonies.

Facilitates team progress towards the Iteration and Program Increment Goals

Supports team during estimation activities.

Supports the Agile Product Owner

Helps track metrics (inputs, outputs, and outcomes) for Scrum teams, and monitors these on an ongoing basis.

Facilitates process of deciding which User Stories will be included in each iteration through understanding team’s velocity, capacity and story scope and size.

Helps team members select which User Stories they will work on

Facilitates process of working with Experience Owner / Agile Product Owner and team to re-balance and re-prioritize work within an iteration.

Provides visibility into progress by maintaining the Backlog, burndown charts, velocity analysis, etc.

Empowers and motivates the team to self-organize.

Ensures the necessary tools are set up for the team (including software, collaboration tools, CI/CD, etc.), otherwise the team has alignment on how to acquire/build them and has relevant funding.

Ensures that the team has established working agreements with relevant Operations team(s) on how software will be tested, deployed and operated, including who is accountable.

Maintains accurate team rosters and ensuring team member data such as primary role, team affiliation and team allocations are accurate and up to date.

QUALIFICATIONS:

8-10 Years Experience

College degree (Bachelor) in related technical / business areas or equivalent work experience.

Scaled Agile Framework certification.

Proficiency utilizing the JIRA software tool and be able to track program increment execution at the scrum team level utilizing available reports, filters and boards.

Proven experience with agile methodology including scrum team leadership.

Familiarity with modern delivery practices such as continuous integration, behavior / test driven development, and specification by example.

Proven experience being the scrum master for engineering teams delivering large-scale enterprise application solutions.

Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.

Strong influencing / negotiation skills.

Strong interpersonal / relationship management skills.

Strong time and project management skills.

Understands key business objectives and strategy of the product and is able to communicate this to the team.

Protects Scrum team from distractions and interruptions by people outside the team.

Understands technology roadmap and help team fit their work into this roadmap, where applicable

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Industry certifications such as PMP, Scrum Master, or Six Sigma Green Belt
