The key responsibilities of the role include:
Monitoring build progress, overseeing finance and ensuring project quality
Making strategic decisions and providing leadership and direction to project managers to implement those decisions
Meeting with clients, stakeholders and project managers to report on project progress
Liaising with clients and building strong working relationships
Devising cost-effective plans to enable effective project completion
Managing risks to avoid delays or reputational damage
Ensuring permits and legal papers are secured ahead of the project
Managing project managers and enabling them to supervise and manage their own teams
Working in an office and on a construction site.
Technical/Professional Knowledge and Skills:
Experience within a civil construction discipline at site level.
Technical understanding of all ground works, and structural civil works including the identification of existing underground services, setting out, piling, reinforcement and concrete.
Good understanding of Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental issues.
Good IT skills – Word, Excel, and Microsoft Project, Teams, able to communicate and use VPN, video conferencing and mobile platforms.
Ability to travel and stay for limited periods of time away from home.
Qualifications
A postgraduate degree in a relevant science field, international development, or business administration
Knowledge and experience
At least 6-10 years of demonstrated leadership and experience in remote monitoring applied to Structural Diagnostics in Civil Engineering Projects.
Experience successfully building and leading multi-disciplinary teams, including people of different national and cultural backgrounds, and demonstrated ability to manage professional, technical, and program support staff in a team environment, ensuring everyone’s role contributes to successful team outputs
Demonstrated experience in relationship building and working with a wide variety of donors and development partners with awareness of their policies and procedures.
