As an HVAC Designer in Workspace Design, you will be responsible for creating efficient, sustainable, and comfortable heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems for various workspace environments. You will collaborate closely with architects, engineers, and project managers to ensure that HVAC designs align with the overall goals and requirements of the workspace projects. Your expertise will contribute to creating healthy and productive work environments while adhering to industry standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Design Development: Develop HVAC system designs tailored to the specific needs of workspace projects, considering factors such as building size, occupancy, usage patterns, and environmental conditions.

System Selection: Select appropriate HVAC equipment, components, and materials based on project requirements, energy efficiency considerations, budget considerations, and sustainability goals.

Heat Load Calculations: Conduct heat load calculations to determine the heating and cooling requirements of workspace areas, ensuring optimal thermal comfort and energy performance.

Ventilation Design: Design ventilation systems to provide adequate fresh air intake and circulation, complying with indoor air quality standards and ventilation rates.

Ductwork Layout: Create detailed ductwork layouts and routing plans, optimizing air distribution efficiency while minimizing space requirements and aesthetic impact.

Code Compliance: Ensure that HVAC designs comply with local building codes, regulations, and industry standards related to mechanical systems, fire safety, and environmental sustainability.

Documentation: Prepare comprehensive technical drawings, specifications, and documentation packages for HVAC systems, including equipment schedules, sizing calculations, and installation details.

Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough reviews and evaluations of HVAC designs to verify accuracy, functionality, and compliance with project requirements, making adjustments as necessary.

What we look for:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC Design, or related field.

Proven experience in HVAC system design for commercial, institutional, or industrial projects, with a focus on workspace environments.

Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, HVAC design software (e.g., Autodesk Revit,) and energy modeling tools.

Strong knowledge of HVAC principles, equipment, codes, and standards (ASHRAE, IECC, etc.).

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and manage multiple projects concurrently.

Certification as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Certified HVAC Designer (CHD) preferred.

Familiarity with sustainable design practices and green building certification programs (LEED, WELL, etc.) is a plus.
