We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and dynamic individual to join our team as a Permanent Senior Grants Accountant. In this role, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of grant accounting, including pre-award, post-award, and closeout accounting. This position requires a deep understanding of institutional, state, and federal policies, procedures, and restrictions. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of maintaining, monitoring, and administering effort reporting systems, preparing the annual Schedule of Federal Awards (SEFA), and performing activities essential to reconciling general ledger accounts. With your excellent financial acumen and meticulous attention to detail, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the fiscal health and compliance of our organization.

Responsibilities:

Perform pre-award review and approval of budgets.

Post-award administration of grants, including fiscal management of funds – includes chart of accounts maintenance, budget, fiscal compliance, internal and external reporting, indirect and administrative costs, invoicing, drawdowns, and collections.

Maintain, monitor, and administer effort reporting system and effort reports.

Prepare the annual Schedule of Federal Awards (SEFA).

Maintain and provide recommendations for the policy and procedure manuals.

Perform activities essential to reconciling general ledger accounts, running and preparing financial reports.

Carry out general accounting duties such as financial statements, reporting, journal entries, reconciliations, invoice review, and approval.

Ensure thorough understanding and compliance with institutional, state, and federal policies, procedures, and restrictions.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

A minimum of 2+ years of experience in grant accounting or a related field.

Proven experience with pre-award, post-award, and closeout accounting.

Experience with maintaining, monitoring, and administering effort reporting systems and effort reports.

Familiarity with the preparation of the annual Schedule of Federal Awards (SEFA).

Strong understanding of institutional, state, and federal policies, procedures, and restrictions.

Proficiency in general accounting duties such as financial statements, reporting, journal entries, reconciliations, invoice review, and approval.

Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills.

Experience with financial software systems.
