General Description:

The Centrifuge Tech II is the entry-level centrifuge mechanic position who will conduct the daily assembly, repair, maintenance, and rebuild of all S3S centrifuge assets. They are responsible for evaluating centrifuge condition based on vibration testing, the removal and installation of repaired rotating assemblies (RAs), and documenting the work performed and testing evaluations prior to shipping.

Essential Functions:

Installation, repair, and maintenance of all S3S owned centrifuge assets.

Complete accurately and in a timely matter all maintenance/repair records, for work performed.

Investigate and resolve any issues that arise in the centrifuge area.

Perform visual inspection of centrifuge components to determine what actions are required.

Perform various tests on centrifuges: rpm, vibration, differential speed verification, etc.

Install & Remove centrifuge rotating assemblies as per S3S procedures.

Disassembly of worn-out rotating assemblies for 3rd party repair; including recording of current condition, repairs required, and list of required purchased parts to finish.

Install, and align newly assembled mechanical transmission devices (V-Belts, QD bushing and sheaves, gearboxes).

Installation, repair, and connection of the complete electrical components on each centrifuge skid (motor junction box, electrical plug on power cord, on-board sensors, data cable, junction box, etc.).

Perform upgrades of components or hardware on S3S Centrifuges.

Shadow new CT2 teammates showing S3S standards of quality, process, and standards.

Other duties as assigned by the SM, ASM, or CM.

May be asked to provide evaluation input of current employees for internal promotion to CT2.

May be required to work in other locations from time to time.

Requirements

Demonstrated ability to understand complicated part layouts, drawings, sketches and create work instructions for the Centrifuge Tech Team.

Ability to inspect and troubleshoot defective centrifuges and organize a plan to refurbish.

Ability to independently function to meet departmental requirements within a defined time frame.

Thorough understanding of the working principles of horizontal decanters.

Knowledgeable on centrifuge operation, and settings to achieve certain results.

Understand the working principles of centrifugal and positive displacement pump technologies, and centrifuge feeding applications.

Basic understanding of analog sensors (flow, pressure) and installation in piping.

Basic operation of a Digital Multi Meter.

Demonstrated ability to use calipers, micrometers, and gauges in both imperial and metric measurements.

Understanding of SCRUM, Jira software, and the Centrifuge Tech team’s roles and responsibilities.

Advanced electrical knowledge (volts, amps, wire sizing, S3S wiring standards).

Advanced electrical troubleshooting and evaluation.

A thorough understanding of solids control equipment and closed-loop systems is preferred.

Understanding of pipe connection methods, and best practices for assembly.

Demonstrated ability to diagnose mechanical problems.

Basic computer knowledge (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Jira, Portal etc.)

Ability to utilize measuring devices: tape measure, caliper, thread gauge, etc.

Ability to identify the thread size and specification of an unknown fastener.

Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools.

Ability to operate equipment including Front end loaders, Forklifts, and overhead cranes.

Must be able to read and write in English fluently (Spanish is a plus).

Must have manual dexterity and ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Must be mechanically inclined / adept, and familiar with hand tools.

Able to communicate effectively with others.

Able to understand and carry out routine oral and written instructions.

Understanding of proper fastener installation, and torquing.

Minimum Required Education, Credentials, Licenses and Experience:

High School Diploma, or equivalent GED

5+ Years in a maintenance and repair environment

3+ Years experience with centrifuge repair

SCRUM Team member certificate

SCRUM Master certificate

Forklift Certified (Preferred, Certification on-site available)

Overhead Crane Certified (Preferred, Certification on-site available)
