DCG is seeking a well-rounded, organized, thorough, and proactive Strategic Communications Planner (Senior Associate) responsible for delivering full-service strategic and tactical-level communication on behalf of our client, the Army Office of the Chief of Public Affairs (OCPA). The successful candidate will also serve as the Alternate Program Manager in the absence of the full-time Program Manager. The planner will support and oversee activities including but not limited to:

Guiding the full process of communication plan development including research, plan development, stakeholder analysis, coordination, and synchronization, execution including product development and publishing, and assessment;

Coordinating and leading communication planning meetings;

Supporting the achievement of communications objectives by incorporating tactics across the spectrum of communication including multimedia products, social media initiatives, outreach events, and media engagement;

Preparing senior leadership for briefings, press conferences, and media round tables;

Drafting news releases, and crafting themes, messages and talking points on various programs and systems for use by senior leadership, soldiers, and civilians.

Coordinating actions within OCPA and supporting coordination of Army-wide staff actions.

Location: The team works on the client site at the Pentagon and may telework up to two days a week. For the remaining business days, team members must arrive by 0900 except in extenuating circumstances.

Requirements:

A bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five (5) years demonstrated relevant experience to have been achieved within the last ten (10) years

Demonstrated experience in strategic communications planning, preferably at the strategic level

Proven experience developing and implementing external communications planning across multiple communications channels and platforms, including formats such as social media engagement, stakeholder outreach, media relations, and federal agency coordination

Ability to grasp tone and voice of the audience(s)

Experience developing and writing in a variety of communication formats and styles, including but not limited to news releases, email, and talking points

Preferred qualifications:

Understanding of the Headquarters, Department of the Army and the Secretary of the Army’s Title 10 responsibilities

Experience as a military Public Affairs officer (commissioned or NCO)

Familiarity with Army modernization Programs and the government acquisition process

PMP certification
