Overview: Universal Engineering Sciences (UES) has an opening in our Construction Services Department.

UES is a nationwide leader in Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Materials Testing and Inspection, Building Code Compliance, Environmental, Occupational Health & Safety, and Building Envelope.

Summary The QC Manager is a key role, responsible for managing, coordinating, and scheduling all QC technicians and Projects for FDOT and FDOT Specification Projects.

Testing these samples requires extensive manual lifting and handling.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform QC Manager duties per FDOT 105 specification.

Compile logbooks, QC plans, and job guide schedules

Provide project management on Contractor Quality Control FDOT projects, including delegation of tasks to Asst. QC Manager, budget review, and communication with contractors.

Provide problem solving and resolution on project issues.

Manage and oversee 15-20 CQC certified staff, including employee management, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions, as required.

Timesheet review, annual employee reviews, and commutation with technicians regarding performance, oversee class signups for additional certifications, repayment agreements, check requests, as well as productivity, invoicing, and reporting

Create proposals and work orders for all DOT projects that arise.

Identify safety concerns on project sites.

Review and train staff on Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) for general information and specific projects

Maximizes long and short-term profits for Testing Lab & Construction Services Department.

Quotes costs and fees to clients; prepares proposals and reports.

Coordinates personnel and equipment within the branch

Turn in required paperwork daily

Regular attendance is required

Must be flexible to changing schedules and hours to support business needs. Overnight and weekends schedules may be necessary to support business needs

Follow all company safety procedures and policies

Other duties may be assigned

Required Qualifications:

Valid Florida Driver’s License with acceptable driving record (in accordance with our Driver’s License and Motor Vehicle Record Check Criteria)

Ability to pass a background check screening in accordance with Florida’s Jessica Lunsford Act (or equivalent state classification).

Nuclear Radiation Safety Certificate

ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician – Grade I

FDOT CTQP Concrete Level I & II

FDOT CTQP Earthwork Level I & II

Ability to read & write, including interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, as well as the ability to write routine reports and correspondence, and speak effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and customers/clients.

Computer skills sufficient to operate a laptop, including sending and receiving emails, and the ability to learn Field Data Collection (FDC)/Inspector Gadget to input data and prepare reports.

Mathematical skills sufficient to add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram form.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, or related field

Engineering Intern (EI) license
