Job Description

APEX Technical School is looking for a highly skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team. The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing general maintenance and repairs on facility equipment and property structures, in addition to performing grounds maintenance. All work will be done in compliance with APEX’s safety rules and regulations.

DESCRIPTION:

Inspect building and other structures to determine functional systems

Detect malfunctions and needed repair and make note of these with recommendations

Perform numerous electrical maintenance tasks, including but not limited to: replacement or repair of switches and outlets, etc.

Perform minor plumbing maintenance (e.g. replacement or repair of leaks in drains and faucets, unclogging of drains, etc.)

Perform minor painting and carpentry (e.g. preparing surfaces and using a brush, sprayer, or roller to apply paints, stains, and varnishes, hanging doors, fitting locks and handles, etc.).

Reconfigure, install, position, and remount modular offices and spaces (e.g. furniture, work surfaces, storage bins, lighting, file cabinets, etc.) to accommodate user needs and maximize office space using hand, power, and specialty tools, and dollies and hand trucks

Prepare surfaces and paint various structures and equipment (e.g. walls, floors, doors, restroom facilities, etc.) to preserve wood and metal parts from corrosion and maintain a safe, comfortable working environment using various painting equipment and related tools (e.g. sprayers, rollers, brushes, thinners, etc.)

Clean rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, and other work areas

Respond quickly in the event of an emergency, notify appropriate personnel and follow safety protocol

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum 2 years’ experience in facilities maintenance

Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, and carpentry

Ability to work with minimal supervision

Must demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills

Must be organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, and able to multi-task
