Advanced Manufacturing Engineer

Location: Angstrom USA LLC, Taylor, Michigan - 48085

Job Description Summary:

Lead new projects right from the inception of program till manufacturing launch that includes prototype part development, APQP, manufacturing process planning, FMEA, selection of equipment, tooling design, developing infrastructure, conducting trial production, installation of manufacturing cell, execute PPAP, proving Run Rate, monitor initial production run and sign off from production. Implement advanced manufacturing techniques in existing production processes to maximize throughput / OEE. Establishes control charting of critical features and processes. Resolves issues with design, manufacturability, or build sequences.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Ø Develops new product process design, PFD, FMEA and prepare manufacturing equipment proposals to execute project deliverables in co-ordination with Cross Functional Team

Ø Develop and execute prototype plan as per customer requirement.

Ø Recommend new manufacturing equipment by identifying vendors, evaluating equipment capabilities, service history, vendor service and support. Secure buy off from CFT team.

Ø Ensure sourced equipment, tooling meets established standards and project requirements

Ø Lead pre-production activities in co-ordination with production department

Ø Lead PPAP and Run Rate to meet project deliverables

Ø Inputs and configures BOM’s, routings and master data to the ERP system.

Ø Develop process drawings, manufacturing instructions, control plan and work instructions for new products, machining, welding, assembly fixtures, and tooling

Ø Develop financial evaluations of potential major capital investment projects and provide documentation of investment vs payback to the supervisor

Ø Coordinate manufacturing changes for approved Engineering Change Request

Ø Evaluate existing methods of operations, routings, processes, tooling, etc., and recommend and/or initiate changes or modifications to update and achieve optimum operating efficiencies and manufacturing economies.

Ø Develop and manage plant layouts, CAD drawings, and operational design concepts

Ø Install and conduct equipment capability and certifications with help of maintenance

Ø Coordinate with supplier engineering

Ø Application of lean concepts and capacity planning

Ø Application of mistake and error proofing engineering

Ø Periodic review of capability studies and initiate action to reduce FMEA RPN

Ø Identify and address safety and ergonomic issues, as identified.

Ø Keep regular communications, periodic meeting with program management on new program awards and status of awarded programs

Ø Support Sales on RFQs, cost estimation and technical presentation to seek new business

Ø Do participate in corrective preventive actions for customer and internal complaints

Ø All other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

Ø Diploma or Degree in Industrial / Mechanical / Manufacturing Engineering required

Ø Minimum of 3-5 year experience Engineering, product development, manufacturing in Automotive and/or Automotive Supply

Ø Must have process experience in Machining, Welding (MIG, TIG), Robotic, Press Assembly, Fixture and Tooling knowledge required

Ø Adequate knowledge of Problem-Solving methods, SPC and SQC tools required

Ø Auto CAD, Solid Works skill set

Ø Highly knowledgeable in APQP process, PPAP, PFMEA, PFD, Control Plan and WI

Ø Knowledge in GD&T and Lean manufacturing

Ø Knowledge in International Quality Management System - IATF 16949:2016/ISO 14001 /OHSAS and State Law in Industrial Regulations

Ø Proven ability in execution of project plans that have achieved the identified targets
