POSITION SUMMARY

The Application Scientist position requires the individual to conduct laboratory experiments involving formulations development as well as ingredients qualification.

POSITION SCOPE

The Application Scientist, R&D, Personal Care is a science-driven project leader responsible for the planning, management, support and execution of Formulation projects at the Vantage Personal Care technology organization in Spain. This role will develop new applications promoting Vantage technologies and creating market relevant concepts. This role will support the development of formulations for claim substantiation of Vantage ingredients.

This role will require cross-functional collaboration between departments, laboratory sites, and external partners to help solve customers’ challenges, as well as to drive optimization effectiveness of process/procedures and best practices associated with application/formulation development. The Application Scientist will have experience interacting with a global team, and strong know-how of cosmetic formulation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Use knowledge of routine laboratory safety procedures, SDS’s and interpretations of hazards/toxicity data to perform all laboratory work in accordance with the written safety manual and site safety policies.

Be a steward for safety and continually drive awareness to ensure a safe work environment for all employees.

Understand formulation procedures and technologies and incorporate this understanding into applications that add value to customer products,

Maintain accurate records of all laboratory work and research in accordance with generally accepted laboratory principles,

Under the responsibility of the Technical support Manager EMEA, your missions will be the following:

Development of new formulations to highlight ingredients from Vantage portfolio and their added values in formulation (skin care, hair care, makeup, and toiletries applications) according to the current trends, global company projects and following customers and sales team needs,

Monitor stability testing,

Qualification of Vantage ingredients and report data,

Ensure the efficient operation of the laboratory (respect for SOPs, raw materials and packaging inventory management…).

The Ideal Candidate

Desired Background – Application Scientist

Graduate from a scientific school with a specialization in cosmetic industry (Bachelor’s degree minimum)

Autonomy, dynamism, force of proposal and high creativity

Fluent in Spanish and English (French language would be a plus)

At least one experience in the cosmetic industry (intership or 1st experience as a cosmetic formulator)

Knowledge, Skills & Talents
