What You'll Do:

Ohio Department of Public Safety - Director's Office/Facility Management

Report in location: 1970 West Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43223

Work hours: 8:00am - 5:00pm

Under the general supervision of the Administrative Officer 1, perform repairs, inspections, preventative maintenance & installation of heating, ventilation & air conditioning (HVAC) systems at the Shipley building, Centre School & other Ohio Department of Public Safety (ODPS) facilities within Franklin county; Respond daily to HVAC requests throughout the facility; Perform general maintenance & repair (e.g. replace &/or repair pumps, fan motors, thermostats, filters, etc.; weld metal); Install & operate air conditioning, refrigeration & heating units; Adhere to preventative maintenance priorities & schedules (e.g. repairs, inspections, installations, etc.) for a full range of HVAC equipment (e.g. air handlers, variable frequency drive (VFD), variable air volume (VAV), chillers, chiller towers, holding tanks, water pumps, sump pumps, various water lines, air ducts, mixing valves, shut off valves, gauges, thermostats, exhaust fans, fan motors, boilers & condensers); Ensure proper assembly of components on all installed equipment; Assist with boiler operations & repairs (e.g. clean & repair tubes; replace gaskets; remove scale & soot; check grates & combustion control equipment; ensure equipment is functioning properly); Perform building & maintenance trade tasks &/or assists trade personnel (e.g. plumbers, carpenters, electricians &/or contractors); Meet with agency personnel to gather information on HVAC concerns &/or reports of problems; Advise Facility Services managers on status of HVAC systems & equipment.

Assist with preparation of technical specifications & bid invitations for major repairs or modifications of HVAC equipment; Inspect & test installed equipment for proper assembly of components & check for needed repairs & compliance with technical orders, blue prints, schematics, specifications, handbooks & established procedures; Attend training, seminars &/or meetings as required; Assist with scheduling of contractors to perform required preventative maintenance of all HVAC equipment as needed; Act as backup for transportation services at the Shipley Facility (e.g. operate the Shipley shuttle bus during morning &/or afternoon hours when needed); Perform other related duties as assigned.
