The Finance Manager will report to the Group CFO with a dotted line to the Country Manager. They will work in a team of Partnerships Managers/Leads, Finance Managers, and Accountants to support AMI and programs in Rwanda and other countries. The ideal candidate will be a key player in a dynamic, international team focused on achieving results efficiently.

Financial Management

Ensure compliance with the Group’s financial policies and procedures.

Maintain accounting controls and financial security by following internal controls; prepare and recommend policies and procedures.

Monitor program funds to ensure appropriate and timely spending to maintain projected revenue.

Examine financial reports and data closely to identify discrepancies and ensure accurate recording, filing, and reporting of all financial transactions.

Maintain accurate and timely financial documentation and data, reporting on all program commitments, expenses, and cash flow projections.

Participate in budgeting, planning, and forecasting of programs by providing necessary financial information.

Assist in preparing monthly performance reports for the company and subsidiaries, including analysis and commentary on performance against budgets.

Provide support for annual audits and liaise with program-specific independent auditors and regulatory agencies as required.

Analyze expenses to identify cost-cutting opportunities and drive value for the AMI Group.

Regularly reconcile key accounts to ensure accuracy of financial records.

Reporting

Provide monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting on program finances, expenditures, variances, and other financial reports as determined by grant agreements.

Provide monthly financial reporting and analysis to the Group CFO and Country Manager Rwanda, as well as ad hoc reports as needed.

Perform month-end closing activities, including account reconciliation and revenue recognition.

Ensure accurate maintenance of supporting documents in NetSuite ERP.

Ensure financial records comply with company policies and accounting principles, addressing any errors or discrepancies.

Grant Compliance

Ensure compliance with grant conditions, including providing necessary documentation and maintaining required assurance levels.

Implement and enforce group accounting procedures and internal controls.

Ensure program staff spend funds in line with the budget and provide guidance and training on financial aspects to AMI staff.

Ensure compliance with local tax laws and reporting requirements, liaising with tax advisors as needed.

Prepare tax schedules for monthly filings, ensure timely tax payments, and maintain proper tax accounting.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or a related field from a recognized university.

Qualified Accountant (ACCA, CPA).

At least five (5) years’ experience in managerial responsibility.

Deep understanding and experience with Rwanda taxation laws.

Experience with new system implementation; experience with NetSuite preferred.

Experience working for fast-growth, rapidly-scaling companies is advantageous.

Proficiency in both English and French is advantageous
