Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Data Director to join our team at Blitz. The ideal candidate should have 6-10 years of deep expertise in game data analytics, engineering, management, and machine learning. As the Data Director, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of our gaming platform and services.

This position requires all hires to be onsite Monday through Thursday out of our Los Angeles (Playa Vista) office, with the option to WFH on Friday.

What You'll Do

Data Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive data strategy for Blitz, focusing on data collection, storage, analysis, and utilization to enhance user experiences.

Data Analytics: Lead data analytics efforts to derive actionable insights from large datasets related to gaming performance, player behavior, and user engagement.

Machine Learning: Apply machine learning techniques to model and predict player performance across multiple games, using data-driven approaches.

Framework Development: Create frameworks and methodologies for clear identification and comparison of player performance across various games and genres.

Data Engineering: Oversee the design and maintenance of data pipelines, ensuring data integrity, availability, and performance.

Team Leadership: Build and lead a high-performing data team, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.

Data Architecture: Define and implement data architecture best practices, including data warehousing, data lakes, and cloud-based solutions.

Data Governance: Establish data governance policies and practices to ensure data accuracy, security, and compliance.

Performance Metrics: Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the impact of data-driven initiatives.

Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, engineering, design, and marketing, to align data strategies with company goals.

Emerging Technologies: Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in game data analysis, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.

What It Takes To Be Successful

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.

6-10 years of experience in game data analytics, engineering, management, and machine learning.

Proficiency in data analytics tools, programming languages (Python, R, SQL), and data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI).

Strong leadership skills with the ability to build, mentor, and manage a team.

Experience with machine learning techniques and frameworks for gaming data analysis.

Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, both written and verbal.

In-depth knowledge of data warehousing, ETL processes, and cloud-based data solutions (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).

Experience with game data analysis, including player behavior, game balance, and player performance metrics.

Familiarity with gaming industry trends, platforms, and competitive landscapes.

Understanding of data privacy and security regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) in the context of gaming data.

Salary for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
