Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking qualified individuals to join us as our Mid-Sr VMware Engineer. Our team provides engineering support for Cyber Situational Awareness (SA), Cyber Command and Control (C2), Mission Assurance, and Homeland Defense in Virginia Beach, Virginia. This includes conducting Agile software engineering in a Development, Security, and Operations (DevSecOps) environment, performing Cloud architectural design, operation, and administration functions, and cyber security and Risk Management Framework (RMF) support. Also included are rapid design, development, test, deployment, maintenance and operation of specific software and hardware capabilities to meet current Cyber Defensive needs.

As our Mid-Sr VMware Engineer, you will have the opportunity to:

Work on CVN Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical (HM&E) systems (virtualization).

Supports virtualization-based O&M tasking of deployed operational Infrastructure solutions backed by Citrix, Microsoft, NetApp, Nutanix, Veeam, and VMware.

Conduct technical investigations of customer reported issues.

Collaborate with customer engineers and other VMware 3rd-party resources to investigate customer reported issues.

Provide input on product direction, design, and development.

Perform root cause analysis of customer reported issues.

Participate in design decisions.

Contribute to product documentation and manuals.

Provide assistance in product training, customer meetings, and speaking engagements.

Participate in and participate in product release planning.

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years with BS/BA; 3 years with MS/MA; 0 years with PhD

Experience modernizing system architecture from legacy physical servers to virtual machines on VMware hosts.

Demonstrated ability to understand and apply complex technical concepts.

Demonstrated experience operating and maintaining enterprise-level technologies, such as Microsoft, VMware, Nutanix, NetApp, RHEL, Citrix, Cisco, or similar.

Demonstrated experience operating and maintaining solutions in secure processing environments that utilize Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).

Demonstrated experience with Architected VMware vSphere infrastructures for development and production environments.

Knowledge of Automated VMware vSphere cluster startup procedures for development and production environments.

Shall meet the Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce (CSWF) System Administrator (451); Intermediate Level for SECNAV M-5239.2 compliance.

Requires an active DoD Secret to start and the abilility to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.

Minimum of a Security + or similiar certification which meets the contract's requirements (within 30 days)

Travel Requirements:

Up to 15% travel required

Desired Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or related field or equivalent experience

CompTIA Security+ CE

GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC)

Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP) Security Clearance Requirements:

US Navy ship system experience and understanding -specifically in virtualizing Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical (HM&E) systems.

Strongly desired to hold advanced certifications in a technical area, such as CCNA, NCAP, CISSP, VCP, NCDA, CCA, RHCSA, Azure Fundamentals, or similar.

Demonstrated experience implementing, operating, tuning, optimizing, and maintaining solutions to provide virtualization, storage, data protection, and networking services for enterprise level consumers.

Demonstrated experience leveraging vendor-provided best practices, systems, applications, and services to regularly patch and upgrade solutions.

Expert knowledge of vSphere and vCloud Director; experience with ESXi, vCenter and vMotion.

Expert knowledge of best practice VMware deployment techniques.

Target Salary Range

$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
