Job Title: Quality Control Manager

Summary:

Directs the food manufacturing process by monitoring and controlling the production progression from raw ingredient intake through to packaging of finished products. In addition to maintaining consistent quality programs, the QC Manager follows compliance related to Organic, Kosher, Halal, BRC, and FDA. Must have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of HACCP and CCP’s. Develops SOP’s and training in all programs will be a key deliverable for this role.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

Deliver optimum quality of products by understanding customer and stakeholder requirements and develop effective quality control processes.

· Ensure that the requirements of HACCP are implemented, maintained and achieved.

· Manage and direct the daily responsibilities and performance standards of the QC Technicians.

· Supervise employees in the Sanitation Department. Develop and implement sanitation SOP’s and carry out specific training for sanitation employees.

· Take initiative in the evaluation of risks and define controls prior to the introduction of a new process, product or raw material.

· Implement, maintain and review the audit system to ensure that critical procedures for product safety are in place and complied with.

· Host audits, manage response & close out of non-conformance reports from audits as required.

Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), conduct annual review of accuracy.

· Maintain compliance to the established Safety Programs (SQF, OSHA, and GMP).

· Work in partnership with production team to ensure adherence to quality standards.

· Investigate and resolve quality-related issues, including customer complaints and internal non-conformities.

· Develop and maintain quality metrics, reports, and documentation to track and communicate performance.

· Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

· Remain current with industry trends and advancements to proactively address emerging quality challenges.

· Manage non-conformances and ensure preventative/corrective action is taken and recorded.

· Validate quality processes by establishing product specifications and quality attributes.

· Analyze product returns and customer complaints to identify specific quality problems and trends.

· Identify ways to eliminate production waste and reduce the carbon footprint of the organization.

· The quality of raw materials and components impacts the company's output quality significantly. Note any quality deviations and immediately correct them. Conduct periodic evaluations of supplier performances to ensure that the supplier provide raw materials per agreed expectations.

· During the launch of new products, work with the R&D team to establish quality standards that comply with the overall policies and requirements of QC processes.

· Learn the plant's processes: Understand the critical processes of the Company, purchasing, warehouse, and production plant to help identify potential quality issues and implement suitable measures to correct them. Spend some time operating critical machinery and equipment to gain a practical understanding of the production line. It can also help build a positive relationship with machine operators, who can alert of quality issues.

· Client-related functions: Work alongside R&D, project managers and other senior managers to ensure that all client requirements get recorded correctly in the internal documents before proceeding with production. Respond to client complaints and feedback, conduct root cause analysis and take corrective actions. Attend periodic client meetings and answer any questions that the client might have about product quality.

· Manage pH-controlled products submissions for State of CA approval to ensure elements of Processed Food Registration (PRC) are in line with all guidelines.

· Oversee all required Food Safety Training to all levels of the organization

· Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Quality Management, or related field required.

HACCP and Internal audit certified preferred

· Seven years previous experience as a QC Manager role within a food manufacturing environment required.

Excellent quantitative measurement and analytical skills

Demonstrated knowledge of food safety related programs (Organic, Kosher, Halal, BRC, FDA, HACCP, FSP, GMP, Allergens, SOPs, Pre-Op, prerequisite programs)

Qualifications:

· Experienced Quality Control Manager to ensure the production lines generate a consistently top-notch output of products that meet efficiency and quality standards.

· To be successful as a QC Manager, you must understand the customer’s requirements and coordinate employee efforts between management and the production teams with excellent communication, observational and analytical skills and a demonstrated knowledge of regulatory compliance

· The prime goal of this position is to help maintain our product reputation by confirming that our services and products are capable of driving sustainable growth.

Experience with BRC or other GFSI audit and organic certification requirements is preferred.

· Demonstrated ability to follow and uphold key values of customer care, can-do, teamwork and not just getting it right but keeping it right.

· Solid knowledge of food safety regulations, HACCP, and GMP standards

Skill in communicating in Spanish is a plus

· Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to maintaining high product quality standards

· Proven ability to drive process improvements and implement best practices

· Fluent in understanding spoken and written English required

Certification programs in Six Sigma, Quality Improvement associate, ISO, quality auditor, and quality engineer preferred

Advanced knowledge of MS Office and databases
