Through its merger with Oil Search, Santos has acquired and assumed operatorship over a world-class portfolio of oil leases on the Alaskan North Slope, USA.

Our focus in Alaska is advancement of our Pikka Phase 1 project, which includes a single drill site, an oil processing facility, and other infrastructure to support production of 80,000 barrels of oil per day.

Pikka has been identified as being among the top quartile of oil and gas development projects for greenhouse gas emissions performance. Pikka is poised to play an important role in the energy transition and is aligned with our company goal of managing climate change risk.

The Pikka Unit is one of the largest conventional oil discoveries made in the United States in the last 30 years, and the Pikka Phase 1 Project is the most significant development on Alaska's North Slope in more than 20 years.

The permitted Pikka development project includes two additional drill sites. The Alaska assets also include discoveries made from both the Mitquq and Stirrup exploration wells drilled in 2020. These opportunities combine to offer a clear path to long-term growth in Alaska.

POSITION PURPOSE

The Mechanic Lead/Technician position is responsible for carrying out planned or unplanned maintenance and repair activities for the Production Facility, Drill-Site, Seawater Treatment Plant, Grind & Inject, and Tie-in Pad on a wide range of turbines, compressors, generators, motors, valves, and other associated mechanical equipment.

This position is the Subject Matter Expert (SME) that works closely with and assists the Operations & Maintenance Manager in all aspects of the Pikka Facilities and Drill Site operations to ensure overall safe, effective, and efficient operations.

As part of our dynamic team during the project phase, this role will be part of the Integrated Commissioning and Start-up Team, leading Mechanical commissioning activities, system testing, and facilitating the transition from commissioning to full-scale operations. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of a state-of-the-art facility and shape its operational success.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Adhere to standards of Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) and comply with the Santos Health, Safety & Environment Management System requirements. Coach personnel on safety observation and hazard identification.

Follow and maintain Company standards of Quality in accordance with Company Quality System requirements.

Commissioning Phase

Represent mechanical commissioning activities when interfacing with Construction and monitor contractors' mechanical completion and pre-commissioning activities (rotating equipment).

Organize resources to conduct walks downs as required representing the Mechanical STO commissioning discipline.

Approve completion of the Mechanical commissioning check sheets.

Oversee and lead vendor representatives and site operations in commissioning and start up activities.

Lead the execution of Mechanical commissioning packages.

Oversees preservation for the mechanical and package equipment.

Sign-off and approve logbooks of recorded commissioning and operational events.

Operations

Oversee and direct mechanical technicians in maintenance activities, plan inspection, and troubleshooting of mechanical (statics, rotating and packaging) equipment for Pikka facilities. Inspect work for quality. Performance manage as appropriate.

Strong understanding of maintenance/equipment competencies: Turbines, Compressors, Pumps, Gearboxes, Motors, Generators, Valves, Filters, Tanks, and associated piping etc.

Dismantle, assemble, move and align, machinery and equipment using hoists, cranes, chain falls, hand tools, power tools, pneumatic and hydraulic tools, micrometers, rules, squares, plumb bobs, dial indicators and/or laser alignment equipment.

Perform material and machine inspections using precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, rules, calipers, protractors, and torque wrenches.

Determine equipment specifications and prepare parts lists for purchasing, consisting of mechanical and hydraulic devices as needed to complete assigned projects.

Install machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, and other drawings in industrial establishments.

SAP / Prometheus Work Order schedule compliance through our Integrated Activity Planning System (IAPS)

Provide Santos oversite of contractor work, ensuring compliance with Santos and regulatory requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Formal Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering or technical related field preferred

Experience

Experienced professional with Oil and Gas Construction and Commissioning processes.

Minimum of 10 years in the oil and gas industry and capital projects

Minimum 5 years oil and gas industry experience in Hook - up & Commissioning projects.

Experience in design and commissioning.

Ability to adapt to changing deadlines and achieve project goals and milestones.

Ability to produce of detailed technical procedures, documents and work instruction and reports.

Good understanding of Completions Management System methods and workflow, combined with an ability to fit design to deliverable.

Demonstrated Health, Safety and Environmental Awareness.

Demonstrated written and oral communication skills across multiple employee levels and outside stakeholders.
