Job Summary

Barings seeks a Portfolio Monitoring Senior Associate to join its Private Credit team. The role will primarily focus on the portfolio monitoring and analysis of a number of assets, and documentation and reporting on the performance of these assets. The role will also provide support to the deal teams, assisting with amendments and waivers as well as ongoing portfolio deal related tasks.

A secondary focus of the role will be on projects and data collection and analysis across all the assets in the Private Finance portfolio. The position will be located in Barings’ London office and will report to a Director within the Private Credit team.

In the role, the analyst will gain valuable experience and provide oversight and monitoring of middle-market direct lending investments and private investment funds and, with the opportunity to build internal and external relationships within a large, multi-strategy investment firm.

Primary Responsibilities

Monthly tasks & Quarterly tasks relating to the allocated assets:

Reviewing financial statements and sending out monthly trading updates.

Producing quarterly asset level investment reports including tear sheets and trend reports.

Uploading information to Intralinks for relevant external parties for the allocated assets and responding to asset related queries.

Ongoing portfolio deal related tasks

Attending and presenting at Investment Committee meetings / update discussions relating to the allocated deals.

Attending update calls with management and sponsors for the allocated assets.

Working with the deal teams on amendments/waivers on the allocated deals (e.g. writing IC memos for add-ons and co-ordinating the closing and funding process of such add-ons).

Attending and presenting at quarterly portfolio review meetings relating to the allocated deals.

Portfolio monitoring related tasks

Supporting Directors with performing projects and data collection and analysis tasks across the Private Finance portfolio to be shared with internal and external stakeholders.

Responding to ad hoc asset level queries from external and internal parties for the allocated deals.

Assisting with ad hoc tasks and investor reporting requests.

Required experience & Qualifications

Ideally Bachelor’s degree university or equivalent.

Private debt / Leverage Finance or Private Equity experience preferred.

Familiar with asset level portfolio monitoring.

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint in order to produce high quality deliverables.

Excel modelling skills preferred.

Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

Team player with strong work ethic and willingness to learn and collaborate in a team environment.

Strong time management, organizational, facilitation and collaboration skills.

Additional European language skills advantageous.

Ability to travel to meet management teams and sponsors.
