We are seeking an Chemical/Process Chemist to join our manufacturing centre of excellence based in Church Stretton, on the outskirts of Shrewsbury, Shropshire. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our chemical process plant. The role will involve a wide range of activities including project management, design and oversite of equipment installations, identifying new technologies for processes improvements and general troubleshooting of plant operations and maintenance.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Carry out project management and Project Design Engineering roles on large equipment and infrastructure projects.

• Define, build, qualify and support new and existing custom process equipment and evaluate equipment safety.

• Support and implement the transition of products and manufacturing processes from R&D to production.

• Work effectively with other functions such as chemists and production staff to evolve production processes through the application of technical and lean manufacturing processes.

• Actively improve products, processes, and equipment to meet agreed objectives as part of our Continuous Improvement (CI) program.

• Execute calibration processes to ensure equipment functions correctly.

• Work with suppliers to ensure achievement of goals for cost, quality, and delivery.

• Support training of production operatives in safe use of production processes and equipment.

• Execute repair/replacement of damaged components to ensure equipment functions to correct specifications.

• Resolve equipment failures with a focus on determining root cause(s). Lead and assist with defining and implementing corrective and preventative actions, and resolution to audit findings.

• Carry out Preventative Maintenance checks and servicing on large scale process equipment and document using our ISO 9001 Quality System

• Conduct Validation Processes including FAT/SAT and IQ/OQ/PQ.

Qualifications

We are looking for a motivated individual with the following background:

• University Degree in Chemical / Process Engineering or equivalent

• Significant experience in manufacturing / production, implementing complex chemistry project/process within hazardous area locations (ATEX, DSEAR, COMAH)

• Knowledge of ISO9001 Standards and regulated environments

• Certificate in Process Safety Management would be an advantage.

• Any project management experience would be a strong plus

• Familiar with HAZOP studies

You also have great communication & presentation skills to interact with both internal and external partners. You enjoy both working within a team and autonomously.
